If Kessler has the right tactics, he'll win a UD. He has a superior jab, better speed, is a better technician etc.

I don't see him KOing Pavlik in a million years. B-Hop (who's stronger and heavier than Kessler) couldn't do it; nor could Jermain when it was practically on a plate for him. Pavlik's chin is made of iron. In any case, Kessler failed to KO any decent boxers he fought - Andrade lasted, and Mundine lasted. I don't see Pavlik going home early. And if Kessler really chases a KO and tries to stand there and trade he'll start eating bombs, which isn't a good idea against Pavlik no matter how skillful you are.

That remark provides the key: Kessler was hurt by Calslappy, which doesn't bode well for your chin. Pavlik has more power than Calslappy and could nail Kessler given the opportunity. If Kessler gets drawn into a brawl here, I think he'll get beaten up. He has the better boxing skills to make Pavlik look liike Andrade, but only if he sticks to the game plan.

I think Pavlik has a chance if he manages to turn the pressure up on Kessler and backs him up or forces him to trade, but I think if Kessler boxes smart, hits him on the way in and then moves out of the way, KP's going down.

Kessler by 5 points or so, strategy permitting.

Edit: I still can't believe the number of people who are calling for a Kessler early KO. Seriously, do you even watch boxing?

I'd go for Kessler simply because of the weight difference, but Kessler fights nothing like Hopkins. Kessler is a fairly predictable straight line fighter, he's not going to present Pavlik with the same problems Hopkins did. Also at top level Kessler's power is average to good at best - it's nothing out the ordinary - people talk like he's Tyson.

People seem to think it would be Hopkins 2 or Kessler v another one of his tomato cans.

Pavlik beat Taylor twice at 164, he could well give Kessler a decent fight - it's certainly not impossible like people make out. As I said I'd back Kessler though.

Taylor on points but he will have to be mentally ready and be slightly better than with Pavlik II and Lacy.Froch is a tough customer and Taylor can't KO him.He should outbox him and use his legs.

Good analysis , people are jokes here... they just like to diminish fighters and say "OH BRUTAL KO WITHIN 4" ... when really they don't know ****.

The bold part hits on the reason I always stress the jabbing contest in this match up. Come on; It's Kessler and Pavlik; we KNOW they're going to get into a jabbing contest. If KP got the double-jab-right-hand working, he could really turn up the heat. If Mikkel could slip that second jab, and counter like JT did in the rematch, that slows Kelly down.

That could happen, but again I think if Kessler plays it right he could just outbox Pavlik and not get drawn into a punching contest. Kessler isn't like JT - he doesn't dangle his left hand down and invite the jab in - he has a high guard, jabs and then pops back out, or moves to the side and waits to counter with a hook whipping across. I don't think he'd just stand there and robotically try to exchange jabs with Pavlik. If he's flamboyant with his movement he can just use his superior technique and speed like he did against Andrade, and avoid swapping punches altogether.

Fair play everyone has there opinion I agree Pavlik has a good chin and would last but bringing Calslappy into this is silly as pavlik is would get schooled by Joe C WITHOUT a doubt, he had alot of hand trouble in his career but when he needed a big punch he found it.

Could be. That does sound like a proper fight plan, but I do not think a lot of guys actually choose the jabbing contest with KP. He's pretty good at forcing it, and Mikkel has one of the best jabs around, so he might think he can win the contest. The main thing about this thread is that I get sick of these idiots picking everybody from Kid Diamond to Grady Brewer to whoop KP. Kessler's only claim to fame is losing to Calzaghe. He sure as hell ain't no BHop. Kelly would give him a rough ****ing night AT LEAST.

U know what kills me!!?? Kessler hasnt even been proven yet and has not even beaten not 1 good fighter and waz beaten by dat overrated bum Joe Calzaghe, losing to Joe is embarrasing,if ya keep prasing him 4 doing absolutlty nothing ya gonna make him a fraud just like ya made joe one,at least Kelly Pavlik has been proven hes beaten Jermain Taylor 2x,first time he knocked him out and then he left his comfort weight were he waz at an disadvantage and beat him by UD
