I think most of his fans were casual fans, not avid boxing fans. Most of his fans know nothing about the sport.

I think it is a combination of his good looks, his ability and that he won the gold medal for the USA.

you usually talk a lot of sense, but I gotta disagree with you here.

    ....aye.

He beat tons of big name fighters.

The reason he's beloved is because he was extremely personable, a tremendous fighter in his prime, a wonderful salesman and a guy who took on all challengers.

you guys are missing it here... the only people who get love like oscar did are 1 of a couple things

    > big time ko artists
    > represent their people to the fullest degree
    > extremely outgoing
    > underdogs

some of you are missing it

hmm says.... going back to what I previously stated...
The man rose to stardom and was on top of the sport.. Of course when you're on top, the only direction to go is down. He went down, fighting the best, but he still kept trying to fight on..... trying to get back on top.....I admired that, but it was the wrong choice for him when he focused more time as a promoter.. Just like Hulk Hogan (going off topic)..... ahaha

Extremely outgoing would be the correct one.

It's like you're trying to be edgy on this...it's not even all that deep.

and? ... another reason people like oscar get love is because they'd never let a c + fighter out box them
