I don't see a stoppage or a KO win for EITHER guy. Kessler doesn't hit hard enough and Pavlik recovers very well so I don't see anything other than the very very very SLIGHT chance of an accumulation TKO by Kessler. The chances of this going all 12 is 90% IMO.
Kessler has the better form line. Kessler gave JC his toughest fight.JC beat Borenard who easily beat Pavilk. And Borenard would have beaten Taylor twice too had he not given away the first six rounds doing nothing
Hmm. It's a tough fight to call imo. Similar fighters and while I think Pavlik has slightly more power than Kessler, Kessler would be the bigger man and I don't think Pavlik has looked as good at around 168 than he is at 160. At the moment I would lean towards Kessler, but if Pavlik moved up and looked good in a few bouts at SMW, I could easily lean the other way.
I look for them to let his walk around weight go up 5 pounds. He struggles to make 160 so I don't see him gaining another 8. At least not if it is all muscle he puts on.
SO Jermaine Taylor beat a a fresher B Hop twice, Pavlik beat Taylor twice...does that mean he beats Calzaghe (would be a good fight anyway)??? Listen...Kessler has done nothing to earn anyones respect in here,.... hes a complete FRAUD, its a disgrace that people cut him slack claiming he would beat another top fighter when he never would even attemp to. Its the reason why he keeps fighting comedians...he knows he has fickly idiots like ESB fans claiming hes a "beast" Monster etc.... his management read that and know their gimmick is working... start giving him some flack and you might see him in a fight!
That kind of reasoning is just stupid. A beating B and B beating C doesn't mean A beats C. If that were true, then how did Pavlik lose to Popkins, given that Pavlik beat JT twice and JT beat Popkins twice?
Wow, what a terrible terrible post that was... sounds to me like you never watched either men fight before? Kessler's inside work and left hook are more than decent! Pavlik has has also shown no ability on the inside, when Hopkins got close he was clueless. UD for Kessler
Sloppy against Hopkins, Hopkins ruined that fight was getting boxed up at the end then claimed a low blow so he could buy time, lets not mention the constant holding he ruined that fight without a doubt. and the reff Cortez let it happen ,so why is this because he didnt let Ricky Hatton fight Mayweather in the inside so why allow Hopkins. Sorry my freind you have that completely wrong. Bernard is great for boxing, in my view one of the best to come out of America but get the facts right dont be biased did you watch that fight?
Head to head, I don't think that's a foregone conclusion. Obviously, JC is a lot better P4P, but stylistically I think Pavlik could win that fight. Calzaghe likes to come forward, he likes to throw a lot of punches. His defence is his offence, to some extent; he pins people back and overwhelms them with his work rate, which stops them getting set to counter. I think that kind of guy is made for Pavlik. Pavlik would be able to trade, which is exactly what he needs to do to win fights. If Calzaghe comes forward, he'll get hit and hurt. He's a southpaw and therefore a sucker for Pavlik's raking right hand. And don't forget about Pavlik's work-rate: people go on about Williams and Calzaghe being volume punchers, but Pavlik throws 70-80 punches a round EASILY, and often more than that. At 168, I wouldn't be surprised to see Pavlik winning. You can't just use transitive reasoning in boxing. Yeah, Calzaghe beat the guy who beat the guy; yeah, Calzaghe's achieved more; yeah, Clazaghe's probably more talented. But that doesn't mean he wins one-on-one.
I've watched that fight 4 times, and I scored it a draw... If I can remember correctly, I gave Bernard 5 rounds, Calzaghe 6 rounds, and 1 round even. Seriously, Calzaghe was sloppy that night. He wasn't slipping punches, he was dancing too much, he left himself off-balance coming in, he stood there and didn't throw and ate right hands he couldn't get away from. He was defensively lax.
Boo had predicted that Kelly would clock JC when he came in with his head down. RJJ ALMOST pulled that off but his reflexes were just a bit off and he got him with the forearm instead of a clean punch. Had that been a clean punch.....
