OK.... Kessler is strong & accurate with a very good jab. People forget that against JC he landed some great shots & a fighter without Joes durability would have gone , It was JC's ridiculous workrate that saw Kessler off that night & Pav does'nt come close on that score. I like Pavlik but I think his methodical clubbing style leaves him open to a good accurate puncher like Pavlik ,I personally think he would take some big shots when he comes marauding in & eventually would go......Just my opinion though & If I was that much of an expert I wouldnt be sat here tapping the keys on my shitty pc world computer.....:yep
I think Froch is tough and has an iron will...he is a true fighter. I don't think that he has the skill to win against Taylor though.
I've only seen the fight against Pascal and I'm not sold. Just my opinion based on limited information on Froch.
Just to pick up on the work rate comment: Pavlik throws up to 100 punches a round, so I don't know why you think JC is so much more intense. I just think the prediction that Pavlik will get KO'd is just totally at odds with the facts... I can see him getting outboxed, but not KO'd. People seem to think that a dominating performance = a KO. If that were the case, Andrade would have been killed in the ring.
Far enough mate but I cant say I have had Pav down as really high intensity.....I think that JC's bursts are what does it to the observer & maybe its the flurries that give the impression of a higher workrate....??? I do stand by the fact that I think Kessler stops him but maybe I'm just Biased as Im a fan of Kesslers....:good
Even so Froch is bigger, stronger, tough chinned, hard punching and will surely present a tough figth for Taylor who was knocked down by Jeff Lacy(yes I said it) and hasn't stopped nobody since King Arthur(not Abraham) reigned.
B-Hop was able to catch Joe because Joe is aggressive and often leaves himself open. Fighters like Kessler and B-Hop don't do that - they have a high guard and an extended left arm to block punches. Calzaghe floats his guard around and dangles his arms about quite a lot, which means you can crack a hand through the middle. In any case, B-Hop was often teeing off with the jab before he threw the right, ie. throwing 1-2s. Pavlik can do that WAY better than ol' Popkins, let's face it: his 1-2 combo is one of his key assets. I can see Joe walking straight onto that jab and the right hand down the pipe, which he's extremely vulnerable to because he's a southpaw who jumps in on top of you and often leaves a wide guard. Your little inductive argument about Joe is certainly true; he can adapt to specific points in an opponents game plan. But as you say yourself, Pavlik isn't a particularly complex technical fighter. He has a game plan, like "back him up" or whatever, but it's a very general one, and not something you can just cut out with a few strategic adjustments. If you're vulnerable to the lead right from B-Hop, you can be quicker getting in and out, bring your left hand onto your chin more etc. But you can't really do much when you've got a big puncher exchanging with you all the time. --- To summarise my points on this fight, I think Pavlik has a good chance. Pavlik's speciality is taking out aggressive fighters. He will always struggle with slick, tricky counter-punchers, but he's suited to dispose aggressive fighters par excellence. I think he could force Calzaghe into a war by coming forward, and in that event I give him an advantage with more power, as good a work rate as Calzaghe, a better chin and the devastating potential of that jab- right cross combo. Yeah, Pavlik has no one-punch power.
