im not debating oscar's skills here... or his heart or something

im debating why he was so successful .... i found a perfect barometer and your still trying to throw up a yellow flag.....someone bought up a good point saying gbp was established in 01 which was a great point..... why dont you bring up some good points instead of just saying .... whatever it is your tryign to say

The man was brought into greatness.
Only gold medalist of his team

He was fighting on major TV networks in his first few fights (ABC i think?)
No one gets that exposure anymore

Plus like other posters have stated look at his record for just his first 30 fights,he already owns wins over ATGs.

i think people are getting to carried away with the word loser...

if you look in my og post i said "he is a winner who can lose"... he is vulnerable, he is the underdog, he isnt perfect, he is human... when these qualities exist in the right person.... these things can work very heavily in your favor.... thats all im trying to say...

I don't think the losses really hurt him or took away from him either way because most of them were so close.
But could you have imagined the fame if he woulda stayed off his bike in the Trinidad fight or conquered Hops.
If he coulda clearly dominated a couple of those close losses the man woulda become a modern legend.

thats all 'what if' though - and that is what has dictated ocar's career.

the losses hurt him him - and they hurt him because he wasn't good enough.

    and thats just the reality.

I know he would have gained an even bigger fan base had he won those big fights, but he didn't lose much in defeat.

I think he was good enough early on. He simply rose to the best in the sport so quickly.

Money can make you lose motivation, when you can do whatever you want go where you please buy what you like, it's pretty hard to get yourself motivated into the best physical shape you can.
