I don't have that fight, but I have the rematch and they showed what happened in the first fight.

    Disgusting.

I remember a very famous photo of the scene.
Joe Rivers was caught by a low blow and is seen squatting down while holding on to the family jewels while Welch is keeping Wolgast upright with one hand and counting out Rivers with the other

Completely agree that Asaro completely botched Benn-McClellan.

Also, I just rewatched Wolgast-Rivers. Wolgast drops Rivers and falls on top of him. The ref goes over and grabs Wolgast's arm and helps to lift him up. Wolgast took his time getting off Rivers, and seemed hurt once he got up. Rivers then rises, but the ref stops it. However, the ref never gave him a count, or if he did, he only gave him a one count. Total crap.

I just watched Ali/Wepner and Ali/Frazier II and must say the Tony Perez was pathetic! During the Ali/Wepner fight ,Wepner kept intentionally hitting behind the head and Perez did absolutely nothing! I have never seen anything like it in all my yrs of watching boxing...and Perez did nothing but argue with Ali when complained about it. There must have been easily over a 100 intentional punches by Wepner behind the head, it was amazing to see Perez act like nothing was happening.

The Ali/Frazier II fight ,Perez was hearing his own bells in his head and haulted the action just as Ali hurt frazier and had him reeling.

I can now see why Ali hated the guy so much...the guy was a F***ing idiot!

CArlos Padilla is another ******. I remember him prematurely stopping the D.Lopez/M.Ayala fight, then realizing that he screwed up , make all the people who jumped in the ring get out and restart the fight. That was another amazing blunder by that fool!

I also remember PAdilla stopping the T/Norri/B.Drayton fight to ask the commisioner who was at ringside...if the guy was still fighting? I was in awe...because the ref(Padilla) was sticking his head through the ropes and was asking how the fighter was doing? LOL! Another idiot!

yes Duran vs Moore was brutal, but if we are going to bring that up there are a hell of a lot worse refs!

Also Steele made the right decision against Taylor, just because Taylor could have possibly won the fight with only seconds left, if you dont respond to the ref when asked if you are ok, the fight is stopped.

I've always felt that a ref asking a fighter "Are you ok?" was a stupid thing anyway. They're the officials- they should make up their minds. :huh

..............I dunno; not a bad way to gauge reaction and reaction time. How they comprehend the question, etc.

Better than asking the fallen fighter his opinion on Darwinism.

.........Talk about a killer Monty Python sketch.

I've seen plenty of fighters say "Yes" when they're totally gone. Hearns (vs Barkley) for one.

Yes, I agree, but I think you are even more gone when you can not say anything at all.
And he didn't walk foreward either.
