You didn't give us an example of Floyd being a bad sportsman, or not liking to fight. How did you come up with your assumptions anyway?

floyd has since his amateur days been complaining about not getting enough media spotlight...there are, literally, thousands of examples of that type of behavior. read virtually any interview with him over the last decade and listen to him moan about how he gets "chump change"--remember that tirade of his?--for title fights when, in fact, he was getting millions against moderate drawing power. i never cared for de la hoya after the middle of his career, but at least he always filled stands and posted excellent television ratings.

floyd's assertioin about hbo's commentators being racist and hurting his career with their racism is absurd. i mean, the hbo team was never terribly warm to floyd, but that includes george foreman and manny steward who were, when last i checked also african-american and had the same gripes with floyd that the rest of the team did: he whines, he prices himself out of things, he overstates his legacy, he doesn't take full advantage of his athletic and fistic blessings and he's a mean, bitter, snotty guy who did little to court his fans and respect the fact that without our money floyd would never be "money" mayweather in the first place. he never got that. why would any boxing fan like a fighter who thinks boxing doesn't need fans and that boxers have no obligation to respect their viewers and be grateful for the fame and fortune.

i suppose, if you like i could send you a document with annotated interview clips and texts to verify this. i cannot imagine why i would waste the time, but if, in fact, you actually want to have a productive discussion, i would be more than happy to. but i am not saying anything shocking or revelatory. floyd does do some good things, like funding amateur boxing in his home state, and i respect and admire that...which makes it all the more bizarre that he spends so much time doing the opposite in front of the cameras and on print. that's why i don't care for him. i always recognized his massive talent and dominance, but never thought he was a class act or a true blood warrior. that's my opinion based on an entire career of floyd's antics rubbing myself and many other longtime fans completely the wrong way.
