If Haye wins by convincing ko over Wlad.I guess is the fans will say "well the Russian never was that good" ,"he was overated","couldnt take a punch","allways was chinny". If Wlad knocks out the challenger, the same people will say he is an "ATG,""could have beaten Ali","top 5 at least","would have killed all those small heavies like Dempsey and Marciano". Yet how can one fight alter so drastically the perception of a boxers abilities ? For the record,I think Haye has a much better chance against Wlad than his brother Vitali, because Wlad ,though more talented than his big brother, is vulnerable to a puncher. I would not be at all surprised if Haye kos Wlad ,and if the odds are good enough I will have a wager on him. Haye has only showed potential at this weight so far ,but the bulk of Wlad's competition have been mediocre oafs, imo.Haye at least will come to win .As of now Wlad is not in my top 10 heavyweights and with the opposition around I see no chance of him ever cracking it,whatever the result against Haye,if he is kod, I wont be suprised, and if ,as is expected he overwhelms the smaller man, his stock wont go up significantly in my book.
McVey, IMO one fight can drastically change the perception of an era. Should Haye win, he might add some life to this era. If he wins, defends against the same, belts the brother and defeats the megalith Val, then he has rights to be feted as a great.... to a degree. Should Haye do the above mentions, and emphatically destroy the next generation of men, without prejedice.. just taking all comers and defending unified belts, then he deserves real credit. Will this happen???? I doubt it. Why?? Because Haye is not good enough to beat both brothers to start with. Secondly, the controlling ****s who manipulate the H/W scene via the alphabetical nature, would be reluctant to see a Brit reign as H/W champ, without 75% control of the H/W scene for themselves. Don King is a reason for the nature of the current game. Others are just as bad... if not worse for following suit.
I know what you mean. If Hatton beats Pac he will get little to no credit, whereas if Pac beats Hatton they will be saying 'the new Henry Armstrong'. Double standards, it's a joke IMO
There's plenty of double standards. But if someone was to say "I think Wlad is an atg!" Would you really care about anything that dumb****er said?(Aside from entertainment factor!)
Haye is good for boxing, and if he does pull it off against Wlad he will get serious credit. Whilst his big mouth winds me up at times you can't help but root for a guy who will fight anyone anytime anywhere for just about any price. He puts many of today's 'cash cow' boxers/promoters to shame. A very risky strategy but you've got to give the guy his dues.
Wlad does have a shot down the road to be a ATG, he could just as well fail also. But a win over Haye will be a step closer imo.
I think this is a quality match-up. Is it as important as Bowe and Holyfield? Not yet, but it could be some time from now. At this point, this fight only proves who can win this fight. Haye is still quite crude stylistically; but he has a combination of speed, power, and aggression that poses some good questions for Wladimir. How Haye performs at heavyweight after this fight will ultimately tell the tale, win or lose against Klitschko. If Haye goes for a long streak on inactivity, the impact of this fight could be resounding. If Haye goes on to be a bust above 200, it will be a low caliber defense. If Haye goes on to accomplish good/great things at heavyweight, Klitschko will benefit. Haye has the aggression, and punch, to possibly stop his giant foe. Klitschko has a more than definitive size advantage, and it would be foolish to think that he can't use it against Haye. This is the first Wladimir fight that gives me any sense of anticipation for quite some time.
Wlad is overated. Haye is worse. People must understand HBO and Emanuel Steward get on HBO and talk up all these fighters for their house fighter. They started last week with Chris Arreola, who showed more holes in his defense than Wlad has in his chin. He's prime meat for HBO to throw to Wlad, before he actually improves, so I expect that fight next. Bottom line is there is nothing happening in the heavyweight divison. Wlad cant fight, and there is noone out there capable of engaging him properly to beat him. Haye will get knocked out in the same fashion as Calvin Brock. :tired
