He's sell more if he just put his picture on it. More than a few people who have been on the wrong end of the curse would love one. :yep
It sounds like something Atlas would actually say. Though knowing Teddy, he would have used the word "temperament" instead of "mental discipline." I think that's his favorite word.
It's the number system that Cus D'Amato taught his students including Atlas and Mike Tyson. Watch some tapes of Tyson and you will hear him being asked to throw certain combinations or one particular punch say a seven for instance. It allowed Cus to call out combinations during a fight and from practicing hitting those numbers over and over it was second nature for the fighter to be able to execute without thinking about it. It was theorized by D'Amato that it would make his fighter faster as he wouldn't need to process the info but rather it would be ingrained in the central nervous system.
call me crazy but i like it. don't think it'll work wonders but it looks alright and the numbers could possibly add a little interesting component to bag work.
Using numbers for punches is used since decades all over the world from Russia to Cuba. Especially in amateur boxing. This is the order (usually): 1= jab face 2= straight right (or left if unorthodox) face 3= left uppercut face 4= right uppercut face 5= left hook face 6= left hook face 7= jab body 8= straight right (or left if unorthodox) body 9= left uppercut body 10= right uppercut body 11= left hook body 12= right hook body
