No matter who wins, will Pac-Hatton be one of the top 3 wins of the decade?

So if Pac beat Vince Phillips (who actually beat a physically impressive version of Kostya) would that be a top 3 win of the decade?

Its just gonna be a great fight, and I cant believe that its only 2 week away. Hatton money is already coming in, here in Vegas. Brits should be here by next week. Damn its getting crazy. I almost got Hatton autograph at the Williams-Wright fight, but if he signs mind then everybody wants one. I'm ready for an all out war

In judging fights like this, the fighters have to be two(out of maybe 10) of the very best of the decade. Hatton is not seen that way. PAc is seen that way. In order for this to be a top 3 fight of the decade, you need two of the very best. Hatton is just not seen that way. Even if Hatton wins, people will say PAc fought a prime man naturally bigger than him, and will see this as a minor upset. If Pac wins, Hatton will be seen by fans as not being great, but good, and no upset. A fight like Floyd-Pac will be seen as a top 3 fight of the decade. Floyd faced Hatton when Hatton was at his very best, and Pac wil also, but some of the luster of this fight was taken off when Floyd beat Hatton. This is still a great win for either guy, just not top 3 fight of the decade.

Is that you Ray Charles? I'll let the inactive 35 year old Kostya Tszyu slide, but you really look stupid throwing Castillo's name in there.

I feel bad arguing against someone about Ricky Hatton, as hes an awesome guy and i will be backing him against Pacquaio, but you can't argue for his resume, it simply is not good at all.

i disagree Dinamita cause Hatton is just not on that real elite ATG level, and Pac is much smaller than Hatton. Either way it just doesn't make the cut.

I consider Pac being the first and only man to ever knock out Morales a bigger deal than Pac beating Hatton at 140. And Barrera well that's obvious. And even though Oscar was shot just the fact that Pac jumped up 2 divisions and won every second of every round... it would be about on that level.

So even for Pac this would barely make it top3.

I agree. Hatton is an ATG at 140lb granted its a new division, not overall though. The mere fact that Pac would be beating a top 10 p4p fighter, undefeated at 140lb, prime, on his first fight at that weight class starting his first at 106 would make it a very big deal for him. The mere fact that Hatton is a underdog and to beat the p4p #1 fighter would make it a very big deal for him.

Certainly top 5 for either guy IMO. An elite fighter beating another elite both on their primes under special circumstances, 1 in the weight issue, 1 is the p4p #1 and underdog issue.

All I know is that if Hatton wins he is offically better than Joe Calzaghe.

    This thought comforts me.

after fighting pac and if he beats him he'll have beaten a #3 p4p fighter, beaten a #8 p4p fighter, 1 loss against 1# p4p and a win against #1 p4p fighter. put that alongside belts at 2 weights lineal champ at 140, just beaten #2 in his division. how can you say that his resume is "not good at all"?

in relation to the original question, i don;t think it would be one of the top 3 wins of the decade if hatton won. but the fight has potential to be one of the top fights of the decade, with there styles.

in case of hatton it would be put in that level since pac is the best fighter right now. in case of pac, it would probably be on the level of floyd beating corrales.

Correct. People will say Hoya was washed up at Pac isn't qa 140 fighter.

Such is life. I think Pac will stay around 135 to 140 anyway
