Julio Cesar Chavez v Greg Haugen, 132,247 crowded into the Azteca stadium.
    Now that's just amazing.

To whoever said this is the biggest British fight since Tyson v Lewis, this won't be bigger than Mayweather v Hatton.
Setanta just aren't anywhere near as big as Sky, and even though Mayweather v Hatton was ppv on Sky, it was marketed and promoted so well that it got massive figures(over 1 million). While I can see Haye v Klitschko being very big, I can't see it being quite as big.
Haye isn't nearly as big a name as Hatton not just in Britain but in World boxing terms either, and this being a Heavyweight bout isn't going to be enough to change that.

    Wladimir is huge in germany.

The stadion will be sold out soon.

It is great for boxing. Wladimir is one of the greatest persons in boxing today.

I cannot remember such a great boxing event in germany since Ali vs. Mildenberger.

Wlad would have sold out the arena against any fighter in my opinion. Haye is a nobody in Germany.Almost nobody has ever heard his name there.
Well, I am a little bit shocked that the arena is now almost sold out. I intended to watch Wlad vs Haye live in Gelsenckirchen, but I still dont know whether I will be able to have some days off around the 20th of june.I guess I wont manage to get hold of 2 tickets tomorrow afternoon.Sad!:-(

    great news.

the one thing that pisses me off in america is having the fights in little casino's with only 10k or 20k seats and having the price to high to allow many of the real fans to go.
Boxing should be in stadiums where the whole family can go and appreciate the sport

It's true. Why would he have any name recognition in Germany? None of his fights was ever on German TV. He is the "Klitschko opponent" right now and that's it.

Germans are quite knowledgable fans. I find it hard to believe that they are unaware of a former unified CW champ who has pretty much hounded both Klitschko's for some time.

Most of those people are Klitschko fans not boxing fans per se. The Klitschko's are mainstream in Germany right now. If you watch a Klitschko fight, you don't have to be a boxing fanatic. Haye's ******ed antics didn't get much attention at all before the fight against Wlad was signed. Haye was unified CW champ for just for a few months, much to short to be considered for CW's fighting in Germany so no reason to give him any attention for that.

I doubt that most German boxing fans are just fans of Klitschko. That's like saying that nobody knew Sven Ottke in the UK, they only followed Calzaghe. It's rubbish in my opinion. Haye was only unfied champ for a few months because he could no longer make the weight. Haye went from being European champion for four fights defeating a Ukranian en route. The knowledgable fans would have been aware of who Haye was.

Most boxers are nobodies ion the mainstream. Its the actual fans who know who he is and thay are the ones that matter.

It doesn't really matter anyway. This fight looks to be selling out, plus there is clarly a buzz and rivarly being created which people have latched onto. Haye is a little more than a 'Klitschko opponent', even to the casual german fan - he is a klitschko opponent who is brash, disrespectful and who has stirred up a big rivalry. That alone makes this fight much bigger than the latest bum Wlad defends against.
