true, i aint gonna lie... i was glad to see jaro get a 1st rounder...but i was bothered by the nut lucking bernstein was doing to viloria....that, and the bull**** low blow calls....not that it mattered, but it still bothered me... and with martinez, well donaire had a great night but the stoppage was way too early....the ref just looked tired of dealing with the knockdowns, he didnt even give him a standing 8 count, he acted as if martinez' head hit the canvas and bounced off like 4 times.... either way, good night for the flips...definately have something to be proud of...:good
1. case and point proven. salamat. 2. the us only has bragging rights over brians victory as he is an american. born here, raised here. yeah he visited his grandpa in the philipines a time or two but ive taken in **** in new mexico. im not from new mexico, am i?
Yeah. A few more extra rounds of that fight would have been good. Who knows what could have happened. Boxing can be unpredictable.
i don't care if he is american or russian that night. digging down deep in the last 2 rounds is enough for me to applaud his performance.
bula, look at the threads about this fight over the past couple of weeks or threads about brian in general over the past couple of years. you will find that he wasnt exactly getting a huge wave of support from his 'fellow' pinoys. why do you think he said during the post fight interview that he wanted to show all the people that insisted he had no heart wrong. who do you think those people were? everyone from hawaii still had his back.
Tough outing for Martinez, but hopefully he can notch this up as an experience and move forward. Hell, look at what Darchinyan has been able to do since losing to Donaire. Raul seemed ill-equipped to deal with Donaire's power and counter shots. You can either take big shots from the elites or you can't, and Raul wasn't able to. I thought Raul's high guard would help him but Nonito was able to find the cracks with no problem. I don't think it was that bad of a stoppage because in the ref's mind, he's thinking, 'hey, this is the fourth time this kid has been down and it's early; he's got his whole career in front of him....' I can't be too upset because that's probably what he was thinking. Donaire's left hand is something sweet.:bbbHe was just waiting to counter Raul on that last KD sequence.
Many fans were really wanting support him, some time back, but those lackadaisical performances were really a torture to watch, as far as many Filipino boxing fans are concerned. They wouldnt mind Brian losing, even if by KO, just as long as he fought like a warrior, and threw punches like he meant it. Fighting "macho" will endear you to Filipino boxing fans hearts. Fans knew that he was more than capable of beating his opponents with his boxing and good power, but watching his past few fights feels like "So near yet so far". It really is frustrating. We dont hate him at all. We just want him to fight like a warrior out for a kill, win or lose.
I'm pretty sure Donaire would have finished Martinez, but the Mexican should have at least gotten the chance he deserves.
basically this was my post from your thread: i hope viloria would get his "fire" back and put a stop to the pinoy assassin's rampage. right now, it doesn't look that good but viloria in his last couple of fights racked-up some wins. i don't know if this would be enough to bring his confidence back. in his fight with edgar sosa, he was just too trigger-shy to win that fight and against someone like ulises solis, he better prepares to fight fire with fire if he wants this fight badly. i am not too optimistic like you but i didn't totally shut him off. i said that if he wants to win this badly, he better fight fire-with-fire and viloria was indeed scorching hot.
exactly. from what i read here in ESB, not only pinoys were frustrated with viloria back then. many american posters who used to like viloria where really disappointed with viloria's performance too during that time.
no hate at all. but go over to pacland and im sure they're popping champagne tonight when they were castrating him yesterday.
