I wish you guys would quit making excuses for this man ... he's in his late 20's and has hundreds of amateur fights ... he shouldn't be as flawed as he shows ... and to be on this fast rise, he should show more than what he's showing. I'm not hating, I just don't see what all the hype is about !!
Well, he will be a champ and I dont see too many people that can handle him. So..plus he got the fade cut down to respectable proportions although that ugly ass part he had .....he seriously needs to go to a better barber shop. I could cut his **** better than that..lol
Interesting subject. To my eye, there has been a blatantly clear and deliberate effort by Gamboa's people and Gamboa himself to remodel and readjust his fighting style since his tactical troubles started. They're trying to dump some "traditional mess" on him, as Bruce Lee would call it. Last night was an interesting showcase for how poorly their results have been thus far, and just how awkwardly and unnaturally Gamboa has been in trying to make these adjustments. At this point he's a fully confused fighter who doesn't seem to know what to do with himself, or how to make his body work from this new base. It's been alot like taking a talented street ball player, and dropping him into the structered sytem they have in the organized game. But Gamboa isn't taking. What people are seeing at this point is two different fighters in one, and some hyrbid ******ed mixed up cross between the two. Gamboa is not Gamboa unless he can do that cyclone ****, but they believe he's more vulnerable than they want him to be doing the cyclone ****, so everybody is little bit ****ed at the moment. Gamboa is ass right now. Stay tuned.
every time the guy conected a good one he would prance around like a peacock for the world to admire him. come on you are not 16 anymore and its time to be a pro. to me that says that his focus will not be there the first time he encounters some serious resistance, and he will.
I don't really have a problem with the aggressive vulnerable version of Gamboa. I think he would probably stop Luevano. Don't see the need to drastically change someone who hasn't come close to losing yet.
What excuses? If you follow pro boxing it's common knowledge that a great amateur background doesn't always mean much in the pros.. no matter how great, either. And the guy has been a pro for three years, has fifteen fights, and is beating a calibur of opponent that someone like Chavez Jr is only just starting to take on after 30 some odd fights, and you're saying there's no room for flaws here and there?
BUM?? He is not. STAR??? May be one day, who knows? You can become a star in the USA just by picking the right opponents. We all know that. Will he he choose to fight the top guys at one point???? I really hope so... Then we will be able to see if he is any good
I am not going to judge him much for his last fight against Rojas. It look to me like he wanted to put some rounds in to get experience. Rojas had a lot of experience but was a gatekeeper at his best. And at 37y/o he is not at his best anymore. The guy have been fighting once a year for the last three years. What did you expect??
if gamboa was a little younger i'd understand why ppl would be over the moon with him hes a young undefeated prospects whos fought at an Ok level thus far and hes picked up an interim belt along the way, but hes no joel casamayor and if hes put in with a juarez or John he'll be ripped appart

I just watched the fight and the guy Gamboa was fighting had some good movement and he was offsetting Gamboa's rhythm and Gamboa had to work to get in and land punches so what the hell is your dumb ass talking about. Gamboa would take Chris John's Belt in a heartbeat and you mark my words I can guarantee you he will beat Chris John, Guaranteed. Just save this post when Gamboa takes his belt and which part of Gamboa got exposed. His fought a good fight considering the tricky opponent. Rojas was a good test at this point for Gamboa, give the guy a ****ing break hes only had 15 pro fights
Amateur fights simply don't translate the way you are expecting them to. They provide a basis in fundamentals, but in the end, the pro game is just a completely different animal. Shoot, they said on Shobox that Selcuk Aydin's amateur record was something like 380-20. And he's nowhere even CLOSE to being a finished professional product. The same people saying Gamboa looked "weak" and "confused" are also playing along with the ridiculously high bar this guy's talents have set him. You can't have it both ways. If he sucks so bad, then don't expect so much from him so soon. And correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't this pushover he just beat coldcock Celestino Caballero and give Chris John hell? I'd say a clinic against even an older version of that guy isn't such a bad result.
