What would be the difference if Marquez weighs 144 on fight night and Floyd weighs 148 ?

What would the difference be if they cut to 140 or if they weighed naturally at 147?

Its the fact that it all favours PBF, he is a genuine WW now used to fighting thier, JMM has had 2 fights just at 135, and imo shouldnt go any higher than 140

Everyone is different, Floyds body can adjust to getting upto 147 and has done without any fuss, i dont see it being like that with JMM

    Floyd weighs naturally around 147.

Why do you think Marquez has to add weight if he were to fight at 147?

    Marquez weighed 144 against Pacquaio.

If they both just naturally weigh in. They'd weigh around the limit of 147.

Why make them cut to 140? What does Floyd gain by not cutting to 140?

Uhm let me think, nothing! Marquez doesn't have to add any weight and he'd only be outweighed by a few lbs.

Again, Marquez does not have to bulk to 160 and cut water weight to make 147.

Seems like people think when you move up you are forced to add extra weight

It matters because if one guy has to cut 10lbs to make weight, and the other 0lbs, there's a good chance the weight cutting guy will have his stamina, punch resitance etc adversely effected. Ask Oscar :yep

JMM weighs 144 on fight night against Pacquaio.

Mayweather weighs 148ish give or take.

Let them weigh in at 147 and get it on.

Get you lying biased views out of here......come in here with facts and not blatant lies.......

JMM weighed in 134 1/2 for Juan Diaz, and tipped the HBO scales right before the fight at exactly 140 lbs!

If a fight with Mayweather would to take place at Welter,
Marquez likely tips the scales in the low 140's, while Mayweather comes in at exactly 147 lbs......
Fighttime, Mayweather would be at about 150 lbs , while Marquez likely would be at the same weight he weighed in.

My guess is that a fight at 147 lbs, would create about an 8 pound advantgage for Mayweather when they enter the ring.......thats just too much against a fighter of Mayweather's caliber and pedigree.....

Mayweather is going to have all the physical advantages anyways, at what ever weight they come in......so I would think that it would only be fair that the fight be made at 140-142 lbs.......

For this fight to be made, both fighter have to concede......as of right now, JMM is the only fighter conceding, and he's the older less physically gifted figher of the two who's never fought beyond 135 lbs.

If Mayweather comes out and says, "sorry but I dont think I can make the low 140's again.....thats fine, I would respect that as long as Mayweather did'nt take a fight at the lower end of the 140's say against Pac.

If Mayweather cant make the low 140's, let the fighters move on to fight in their respective weight classes, but as of right now, JMM is the only one conceding and wanting the fight to be made.

Btw, I think anyone with a brain knows that making 140 lbs would'nt be too difficult for Mayweather.....he usually does'nt stray more the 2 or 3 lbs from Welter even when he fights there, and has been also known to drop a pound or two after weighing in at 147 lbs.

Its not going to be as difficult for him to drop 5 or 6 lbs, than it would say a DLH who usually hikes up a dozen lbs after officially weighing in.

DLH was a type who had been weighing over 160 lbs at fighttime for well over a decade......when he came in vs Pac at 145, that was 15 lbs less than his normal fighting weight in the ring at 160 lbs.......

All Mayweather is being asked to is to drop 5 or 6 pounds, a far cry from the 15 DLH had to drop.

i think mayweather said something about agreeing on a 144 weight limit, if you think 142 is fair i don't see anything wrong with giving him at least 2 lbs more from your range. Plus the fact that we don't want any excuses after the fight and mayweather is calling the shots here so 144 is making it fair imo.

What the hell are you talking about, Marquez never weighed 144 lbs for a fight in his life.

The Pacquiao rematch was at 130 lbs, if I'm not mistaken, Marquez was about 137-138 lbs, while Pac weighed about 5 lbs more at fight time.
