Griffo. Finally recognised by Nat Fleischer in the 1950's as a true World Champ. Location of birth still questionable.. Sofala, NSW is suggested in numerous sources. On a ship enroute to Australia is still debated.

    Mick King. Claimant at M/W.

Les Darcy. Arse kicker of all pitiful American so-called fighters. Also recognised bt Nat Fleischer as a true champ. Woud have blasted Greb, Gibbons, Dillon and the other ****-ants into oblivion in the USA. Would take the LHW title without fail. Doubtlessly wiped the floor with Willard also.

Jimmy Carruthers. Australian born. Undisputed Bantam champ.

Lionel Rose. Australian born. Undisputed Bantam champ.

Johnny Famechon. French born. WBC Feather Champ.

Rocky Mattioli. Italian born. WBC Jnr Middle Champ, yet won his crown upon return to Italy.

Jeff Fenech. Australian born. 3 time 'version' title holder.

Lester Ellis. British born. IBF plus another 4 time 'version' title holder.

Barry Michael. British born. IBF 'version' title holder.

Jeff Harding. Australian born. 2 x WBC LH/W 'version' title holder.

Kostya Tszyu. Russian born. 2 x Unified title holder.

Robbie Peden. Australian born. IBF 'version' title holder.

Lovemore N'dou. Born where ever, in a tree??? 'version' title holder.

Vic Darchinyan. Armenian born. Unified plus 'version' title holder. Multi divisional.

Other names such as Ricky Rainer, Craig Trotter, Dave Russel,
Jeff Malcolm etc etc etc have claimed the WBF World Title.

Bob Fitzsimmons gained his greatest boxing knowledge under the guidence of Larry Foley and Jem Mace, before taking the M/W title from Jack Dempsey.... no, not 'William Harrison'........ Therefore deserves as much credit as an Aussie, as many others.

As the response is off the top of my 'empty head', I'm sure I've missed a few names.

Whats the reason for your thread????

    whoops!! Mundine and Green too.

The reason I ask this question is because it has come up before in conversations and like yourself I've named those in the order you have but from Carruthers down to Peden and like yourself have stumbled with our more present day boxers, putting them in a true order. Right me if I'm wrong but being new I thought this was the reason for the forum. To keep it rolling along once the correct list is in place, we could test our knowledge as to who dethroned each of these champs. Just a thought.....

Quit easy... and from memory again.

Grifffo. Never dethrowned as F/W champ... instead ventured to the USA and boxed under the titlage of their bodies.

Mick King. Lost his title to Jeff Smith.

Les Darcy lost his claimancy to leaving Aust soil and death.

Carruthers lost his title to retirement.

Rose lost his title to Rubin Olivares.

Fammo lost his title to judges.. and Vicente Saldivar.

    Mattioli lost to maurice Hope.

    Fenech lost to 3 relinquishments.

    Lester lost to Michael.

    Michael lost to Lockeridge

Tszyu lost in part to Phillips.. and to Hatton later on.

There after, its a ****ing mess.

Dave Russell lost to Johnny Nelson.

    Craig Trotter never defended.

    Ricky Rainer???

Lesters IBO, IBA, WBF, etc.. who gives a ****??

    Jeff Malcolm WBF??

    Peden's IBF??

All the title losses are quiet easy to chase up.

    Harding to McCallum etc.

I sugget you take a peek at boxrec, as the listings of each mans name will be available. As for the title losses... Its worth a shot.

Hopoate lost his IBA H/W title to David Haye, after 15 exciting round in 2011.... lol

If you'd actually like to compile a list of genuine interest, then let me know.

Using the patented LeonMcS country of origin formula, yes, as soon as he won the title he was an Aussie. When he lost it he reverted back to South African, or in extreme cases, New Zealander.

Just hypothetically (and I think I know the answer), in the unlikely event that St Claire won another title, would he automatically revert back to being an Aussie??
