Does anyone else think 140lbs is too much for Pacquaio?

I think 140lbs is perfect for Pacman at this stage of his career. People in this thread saying its too much weight for his small frame? The fact is Pacman has a naturally bigger frame than Hatton. Look at Tale of the Tape and you will see Pac has bigger wrist, ankles, neck, legs, arms, chest and reach compared to Hatton. This means he has a thicker and wider skeletal frame compared to Hatton. In terms of size advantage from Hatton, he is only about half an inch and no more than one inch taller.

And for those who don't know, Pacquiao has actually struggled to lose weight for his last couple of fights in 130 and 135lbs. After the Diaz fight, Pacman vowed that's the last time he's gonna starve himself to make weight.

Hell no. Pac himself admitted that he killed himself to get down to 135 against Diaz. Pac has looked better coming into the ring at 147 or higher than he ever has before. Even when he fought at 135 he entered the fight fight night at 147. 140 should be perfect for him.

 

everyone is saying itll be a huge win for hatton, and that pacman will steam roll him- i dont think 140 if for pacman we will see.

i think pacquiao might well be in for a tough fight. ricky is definitely the bigger guy naturally...nevermind height and the fact that it has always seemed to me that ricky is a natural lightweight. pacquiao, if he listened only to his body and not his legacy and handlers, would still be fighting at 130-pounds. that is probably what his body has grown completely into at this point. there is no way manny is a natural 140-pounder or above. just because he looked muscular and lean-ish at that weight doesn't make it natural.


however, that said, the most surprising thing was the degree to which manny's speed cam up with him to welterweight. i was shocked. both his hands and feet carried way more speed than i imagined they possibly could. if pacquiao's speed holds up, coupled with the southpaw stance and circular patterns of movement could be a stylistic nightmare for the hitman. however, that said, if ricky gets a rough, hardcore body attack going early, maybe, he could foil the style nightmare even if manny does show up as quick or quicker at 140 than he did at 147.

i cannot believe someone said that the weight a guy walks around at between fights IS his natural fighting weight...doesn't that statement literally, completely contradict itself? so manny walks around above 150, does that make him a natural junior-middle? of course not!

 

I find it difficult to judge what exactly Pac's natural fighting weight is at this stage in his career. 140 may well be it, or not. We'll see.

hmm says... dude you are referring to me and you need to read carefully. I did not say or no one said his natural weight outside the ring (150+) is his natural fighting weight. NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD SAY JR MIDDLEWEIGHT. I also said I think his limit is at 147 to back my claim because he himself said he was comfortable at that weight facing DLH but has yet to be tested. I am merely implying he is comfortable making and performing at that weight (140) like others suggest. Hatton walks naturally at 150+ as well and he fights comfortably at 140. He just has more experience. They both have similar body size, but experience and the level of skill is what separates them so I'm sure he'll perform well at 140. Again read carefully. that tid-bit I talked about body mass index and frame was just to give him lee-way at the possibility of performing at and going beyond JrWW...atsch

 

hmm says... does no one else think Pac's limit is at 147? I mean there are talks of possibly facing Cotto or Mosley if he gets past Hatton... but I guess we have to wait and see how he performs at 140.
