Opponents that Klitschko has beaten that are better than Haye

at least all of them have a chin...

 

Haye is really yet to prove himself as a top HW. You can probably pick any of Wlad's last 20 opponents and make a case for them being better HW's.

Very good point. This will be Haye's 3rd Heavyweight fight. But Wlad's 53rd!

 

Haye beats all of them.

Give credit where its due, and let's be real about it. Haye will be Wlad's best win to date. :good

 

Ya Haye isnt used to fighting fat, unskilled, out of shape plodding bums that run out of gas after a couple of rounds... the HEAVYWEIGHT division is where its at!!!!

 

Technically, yes. The fight ended in a stoppage.

But it's an oversimplification to say that Lamon knocked him out.

I don't buy any of the substancee-in-his-bottle stuff, but Wlad ran out of steam in that fight, for whatever reason.

Same with Purity.

Only guy to properly KO him was Sanders, a man to whom Wlad failed to accord sufficient respect.

(I'm not certain Wlad would have beaten him in an immediate rematch. He gave Wlad's far more durable brother all he could handle).


At any rate, Sanders is a much bigger puncher than Haye.


Haye does not have one punch KO ability against Wlad.


And while this fight has been hyped by many (including Haye and Klitschko for obvious reasons) and while anything can happen in a heavyweight fight, I don't see any reason why this should even be Wlad's toughest test to date.

Just says something about the state of the division when you say the only guy that legitimately KO'd the current number 1 was a semi retired guy who couldn't even earn himself a shot at the previous champion :deal

 

Not really.

By that rationale, one might infer that the entire heavyweight division, from John L to Wlad, must have been complete shyte if the 3rd or 4th best heavyweight ever, could be KO'd in his absolute prime, by a journeyman like Rahman.

And unlike Wlad, with one shot !


I don't believe the current division is any better or worse than it generally is at any given time.

It was no better in Joe Louis' bum-of-the month era.

And it was scarcely stellar during Rocky's hey-day.

I believe that from the early sixties till the late eighties was the division's golden age, but that might just be my personal bias, derived from having started watching at Ali and losing some interest in the HWs after the shocker in Feb, 1990.

 

You forgot Tony the tiger Thompson too.

The night before the Wlad/Thompson fight, a friend of mine and I were on Youtube analyzing Thompson and Haye. Before this analysis, I assumed Haye would be a tougher opponent for Wlad than Thompson would be. All the talk on this forum made me think that.

But, after furhter analysis, it was obvious Thompson would be the tougher opponent. It didn't surprise me it took Wlad a few rounds to Ko Thompson. But, I have looked at Haye, and I predict Wlad will have an easier fight with Haye than he did with THompson. I am sure of it too.

 

I find it funny that Wlad fans are taking shots at Haye's chin when Wlad's been on the canvas...wait for it.......
