Why do you hate him? He is a stand up guy who donates a lot of time and money to good causes , he gives his fans the time of day, and doesn't blow them off. He comes to fight, throws a lot of punches , and has given us some great fights and some great highlight reel KO's .... why do you hate him? It must be related to racism or the hate for the US.

Which brings us back to whether Williams is or isn't "punchless" at 160.

Hey, I'm good with talking this up as unwinnable for Williams. When this fight happens, I'd rather have my money on him as an underdog anyhow.

Hey Blue -- check the bold part. I've been calling Pavlik/Williams as a 5 round fight ever since Paul beat Winky. However, it is not a matter of KP just walking right through PW.

Styles make fights, as we all know. In my honest opinion if Pavlik just came in and acted like Kelly Pavlik, and Williams just acted like Paul Williams, it's barn burner. I think it would be one of those "don't freaking blink" type of fights. You've got a guy that throws a **** load of punches fighting a guy that throws a little over a **** load:yep

If this match got made, it would be a lot like Haglar/Hearns. Obviously it's not the same skill level, but a similar fight.

You prefer to see them going toe to toe. Of course you do, because that is the only way Pavlik will win - if he just turns it into a slugfest. Everyone here knows Paul can't simply trade punches with Pavlik standing toe to toe. What makes you think he will even try that strategy?

He will do more of what he did against Margarito. Stay clear and work from the outside. Pavlik will have a tough time trying to get off against PW. So your fantasy of a Hearns-Hagler match just ain't gonna happen.

People hate Pavlik because he's so overrated by his fans. It ain't fair to the guy because although I don't know him, he sounds like a decent dude. But all fighters go through that to a certain extent.

Paul would have no choice but to trade with Pavlik. He does not have the tools to keep Pavlik off of him. He does not hit hard enough, nor is his lateral movement good enough. And, why are you bringing Margo up? He's a welterweight, and has almost nothing in common with KP.

I think Pavlik has quicker hands than Margo and hits harder even when Margo is using plaster.....

    Pavlik most likely wins this.

Paul Williams is the type of boxer, from what I have seen of him so far, that has the mentality to slug it out, EVEN when he really does not need too. Kind of similar to Duddy, NO I AM NOT COMPARING THE TWO, just the slug it out, toe to toe mentality. Another thing I have noticed about paul, dont know if anyone else has or not is, once he feels that his opponent can't hurt him, he starts getting busier, swinging recklessly. Point is, IF he fights a powerful middle(I AM NOT EVEN GOING TO THINK ABOUT HIM AGAINT SUPER MIDDLES) Pavlik or aa for the moment, sees he can't hurt either, knowing he is not the stonger man, add to that the punches coming back at him are much more concussive. I honestly like paul williams, he is an exciting fighter, destoys everyone at 147 and good comp at 154, but the top guys at 160, pavlik or aa absolutely beat him, I have no doubt.

Paul don't have to slug it out with KP. His compbinaiton of lateral movement and punch output is much better than anything KP is capable of handling. But the real flaw in your reasoning is that you think PW hits like a feather. His power is much better at MW than it was at WW. I do hope that KP takes him lightly and assumes his punches will not hurt him. He hits much harder than any of you "experts" give him credit for.

And don't play stupid. I brought up Margarito because he is a pressure puncher with an extremely high output who is relentless. And Paul was more than capable of keeping him off for about 7 to 8 rounds with very little trouble. KP doesn't have the output, speed, stamina, or closing/cornering ability that AM has. You're right. KP and AM have nothing in common.

Pavlik has faster hands than Margarito easily , throws straighter punches and is 6'3 with reach and much greater power .... stop comparing what P.Williams did to Margarito at 147 to how a fight with KP at 160 would be , you're just making yourself look like a moron.

No I hate him because you and his main fans are overrating him too much. I'm from the U.S. and he acted like a ***** after he got beat by Hopkins in the interview after the fight. Basically not giving Hopkins any credit for the win. And from some of the stuff he's said in interview's oke "White's run boxing", I don't think he's a standup guy.

Hey, if they came to fight like that, and that's the way it plays out, we all win as boxing fans. I'll take all the Hagler - Hearns imitations I can get, especially if they involve world class fighters.

Williams though is slowly but surely developing into a very well rounded fighter, and in a Pavlik fight, he has more options than just "stand and deliver". He's not as big or as physical like Hopkins, or as polished defensively (to put it kindly), but he has enough outside game and reach to give KP a great run for his money. He might even be as good or better on the inside.

Plus with that stamina of his, why would he even dream of engaging in a firefight? Hearns fought the way he did with Hagler for a reason. Also, until I see Kelly's feet speed up some, I don't think he has the ability to force that kind of showdown against a fresh Williams. Down the stretch in a war of attrition, sure he could, but not early.

Bottom line, it's a great fight that I hope happens. If Pavlik blasts Mora, I'll rethink my pick some.
