thats just it - i thought this was fight that people wanted to see. its a good 50-50 match up. the same people would moan if khan was 'working his way back up' against journeymen. he's testing himself - good. not so good when if he wins we start hearing how he's champion of the world, but lets cross that bridge if it comes.

One look that the IBF are going to strip Clottey for trying to unify with Cotto tells you everything about how valid mandatories are at times. Does Khan deserve a shot? No - but he's got one because money talks. I'm ok with that - Warren feels it must be his best chance at winning a title right now and Kotelnik's a credible opponent.

All bets that Warren's trying to put Khan in place to fight the Pacquaio-hatton winner (excluding the trainer issue, of course)?

Now ask yourself why he ain't fighting for that WBO title at 135.

    Wouldn't that be logical...

Easier opposition at 140.... How come Calzaghe didn't fight Jones in his prime at light heavy?

Well done, you have inadvertently enhanced my point. You are probably too daft to see it :good

I was discussing this with a mate of mine in the pub on Friday evening..... who has a fair (ish) knowledge of boxing (well big name British boxers) but not enough to avoid being laughed off these boards.....

Why is Khan moving up in weight?

Surely the guys at higher weights punch much harder - well yes, obviously..... so I explained that he was mandatory for Marquez, who is P4P #2, all I got was..... he has lost 4 times, the other guy has only lost twice, he must be better - we later got round to discussing the best British boxers ever.... I had Lewis at #1, he said Hatton was better 'cos he only had one loss.

I quickly changed the subject to the SL game that was going on at the time.

Sounds like he'd be second most knowledgable on the Brit forum.

Because Khan being 22 is no way ready for JMM, And would JMM want to fight Khan anyway? JMM is after bigger names, he could only waited for the WBO 135 belt to become vacant but then more people would been on his back, now at least he is fighting someone who has defended the belt 2 times and is in a higher weight.

You used him being ranked #1 by the WBO as justification for getting a shot at an opponent at a weight he has no previous experience. It seems quite a straight forward question to ask why he ain't fighting for that WBO title since it means so much.

Or rather, we could just call a spade a spade and realise this is blatant cherrypicking. Just better hope it comes off, if he loses it will be disastrous.

O.K let me ask you a question, would P4P no.2 in the world fight Khan if Frank made an offer? And do you think Khan at 22 is ready to fight JJM? Would that be a good move from Frank?

The crux of the issue is why the hell is he fighting for a title at 140lbs when he has never fought anybody at this weight to merit getting a title shot?

At least he has (vaguely) achieved something at lightweight. Even if he didn't fight Marquez he should be fighting for a lightweight title, or at least a relevent contender for a title. You were the one that brought up his #1 WBO ranking

If you read I was only using to show he is ranked No.1 by WBO in to say he has a high ranking with one of the bodies, I also said he does not deserve a title shot but in short money talks. People always complain Khan fights blown-up feathers well now he is fighting a 140 World Champion(true Champions Ricky, Bradley) and surely thats a step up.
