The fight was closer but still a win for Lennox in my opinion. At that point I really started to dislike Lewis for the way he fought Evander in those fights. He fought way too cautiously, and almost looked ridiculous at times the way he ran from Holy.
This was fight was colser than the first one (which was a clear robbery). Lewis won the rematch, but I'm giving much props to Holyfield who bravely fought with the best heavyweight of the 90's
I had Holyfield winning the rematch by two points. By virtue of his work from the 5th round on, Holyfield should have won the fight. Lennox didn't do enough to win the rematch and I believe this decision had more to do with "righting" the first "wrong" which Lennox was robbed of. All this because of Eugenia Williams, sheesh.
I've gone over this a year or two ago and when someone such as Zak picked Holyfield in that fight, they aren't able to provide a round by round breakdown. Care to try? Personally I had the fight either 8-4 or 7-5 and no matter how much I try I can't find anymore than 5 rounds for Holyfield, cause that's giving him all the marginal rounds that could go either way.
I seem to remember having 8-4 Lewis and being bemused by those who thought Holyfield had won. Have to watch it again to refresh my memory. Lewis-Mercer was closer imo.
I had Holyfield winning as did most of the people I watched the fight with at a company party (avatar notwithstanding...)
116 to 113 in favour of lewis...........LEWIS IS LUCKY HE FOUGHT A 37 YR OLD HOLYFIELD WHO FOUGHT IN SPURTS..........A 32 YR OLD HOLY WOULDA MADE LENNOX WORK A LOT HARDER.
Clear win for Lewis IMO, anywhere from 2-4 points. He just did too much, while Holy just didn't do enough - again. Simple as that.
