A lot of our great fighters have produced great performances at home but could not or were not given the opportunity to produce on the big stage overseas.

    5. Troy Waters v Terry Norris
    6. Dave Sands v Bobo Olsen
    7. Dave Sands v Dick Turpin,
    8. Darchinyan v Arce
    9. Famechon v Harada II
    10. Harding v Tiozzo

Good list DSS...and you've got most of the best ones covered.

Reckon Hec Thompson's effort against Duran in Panama was praiseworthy.

Duran was 35 and 1 at the time, and of course on the way to being an all-time great. One judge had Hec close on points up until the 8th round stoppage, and he busted Roberto up a bit along the way.

You are dead right Couldabeen. That one should be included if other brave losses have been included.

I'd love to see that fight on youtube one day. Can anybody put it up?

I would say VIC vs Mijares......Mijares was on many respected peoples top 10 P4P at the time.

This fight was a complete beat down.....one way fight and many people had VIC getting stopped.

You're right. Soliman vs Wright should be in there as well.
Lovemore v Cotto and Cintron could easily score high honours.

    Hussein-Pong
    Green-Lucas
Thompson-Cervantes whilst we are on the topic.

Lionel over Harada takes the cake by a long shot though.

I'd definitely disagree with putting Harding v Andries I over Fenech v Nelson I. In fact, you could almost argue that Harding v Andries III was the greater achievement.

Jimmy Carruthers v Vic Toweel 1 and 2 would have to rank top 10 - A major omission.

You are 100% correct. He was written off big time and he totally dominated Mijares from start to finish.

Also I think Sam Soliman V Winky Wright was another huge performance by an Australian. Many thought he won.

Mundines performance over Ottke was very good considering where he was at in his career. Would be a Top 10 for sure IMO if he had won.

    Green V Beyer 1 ?

    Great thread DSS.

It seems Famechon vs Legra is another accidental omission.
Legra's record to date was spectacular at the time.

Robbie Pedan 'sleeping' Nate Campbell is a beauty in the USA. The smart arse copped a wallop.

Anything Griffo did in the USA was impressive, as he'd either screw himself with booze prior, or allow the 'decisions' screw him harder.

Peden v Campbell I would rank higher than some of the original list.
