What does Pacquaio gain by beating Hatton?

Yes, he cements his status as the p4p no.1. A win at 140lbs adds another string to his bow and another title. But is there added credibility to his already impressive career by beating Hatton who seems to be getting sold on this fight as a crowd puller and nothing more.

 

You answered your own question, fool. I guess Hatton the "journeyman" doesn't deserve to share the ring with Pac?! You'll see how wrong you are when Pac gets the fight of his life.

Listen fella I never said I was tipping Pac to beat Hatton. I just don't think that IF Pac beats Hatton it does enough for his legacy and all that ****. IF Hatton wins it catapults him to even greater heights.

Hmm...unbeaten at 140, fringe top 10 P4P-er, the absolute BEST at that weight class so I'd say yes.

He dominated 130, stops by at 135 to pick up a strap, goes up to 147 and whoops a living legend and goes down to 140 and beats the best fighter there. It's extremely credible.

 

Silly question IMHO. Of course there is, Hatton is top 10 p4p, the universally recognised #1 at junior welter and has been for four years, his only loss was to Mayweather at a higher weight. He would be quite possibly the second best win on Pacquiao's resume after Barrera I (if Pac was to win the fight impressively, it would exceed the close, controversial win over Marquez and the victories over a faded Morales).

I'm not that impressed with Hatton's career nor skill. I think he is exactly as you say - a crowd puller. Hatton is the one with most to gain, as usual.

I'll prefer his win over Barerra and disputed win over Marquez.

 

It won't be his biggest win but it's still a credible victory. The argument here seems to be whether it's credible or not.

 

This is unquestionably a money fight for Pac. I just think there is greater boxing credibility to be gained elsewhere. I don't think Hatton is just a crowd puller but if Pac beats him I can't see him getting enormous credibility for it.

 

Manny really doesn't need anymore credibility though...and to be fair how many more fights are out there that can boost his already solid credibility?

Another win over JMM and a fight against Floyd are all I can come up with.

 

On the premise that he has nothing to gain, I can only assume that he has everything to lose.

Paul Williams at 147? I'M KIDDING. Cotto seems to be what Arum is looking at. I'd be up for that fight. I think after Hatton, Pac has three more fights and then he's into politics.
