It would depend on how Haye won. If he makes Wlad jab thin air for three rounds then sparks him with a peachy right hand then we'd all know that Haye is the real deal and that would not diminish Wlad at all. If there's a clinchy hug-fest where Wlad smothers Haye for 12 rounds and Haye gets a split decision (against a homer in Germany, too) then Wlad really would look terrible.

    No.

I'd just know for certain that Wlad was who I thought he was.

Klitschko is a great big man, but he's not a complete fighter in the mold of a Joe Louis type of fighter, but he's good at what he does; however, in Joe Louis's era, if he made it to champ, he would not hold it for very long.

in previous era's, it seems like belts changed hands more often(I mean in comparison, then there was one, now there are a bunch

I don't think he will win but if he does then that doesn't do anything bad for Wlad, good thing is that Haye would then fight Vitali, get beat down, and then once he's washed up he'll get one of his last beatings by Wlad in a redemption match.

Wlad would keep fighting ... he's going to keep fighting and when its all said and done this guy would have fought more than 80 fights and have 70 + wins.

HW's lose and Wlad wouldn't be different from any other great HW that has lost a fight or two.

    Not really.
If the much smaller Haye sparks him then it will just confirm what his doubters have said for years about him being an average champion in a weak era.

I think if Wlad wants to become a great fighter, he can't afford another loss for quite a while. He's building up a decent win streak right now. If he gets stopped (by a cruiser weight non the less!) it would be detrimental. Wlad already has a perception problem where he is defined more by his losses then by his wins. This is a bit unfair to him, but it IS a fact. This situation is due mainly to him not having anyone great to beat. Think about it, what is Wlad's career defining win? Brock? Byrd? Old Mercer?... Wlad does not have any great foils like past great fighters did. He barely has decent prospective opponents, much less great ones! Wlad's shot at respect will have to come through quantity rather than quality wins. A loss at this point will be a MAJOR setback for Wlad's legacy.

Hit the nail on the head. I actually think if he beats Haye it will be one of his best wins, even though he's a cruiser coming up. I think this largely to the media hype though i guess...

Wlad is already a great fighter and times have changed, it has nothing to do with the Era you're in. When you fight at HW you always run the risk of getting beat some way or another.

To further Comment on the "Era" promoters are now in more control than ever and it seems like legacy doesn't matter much anymore _ add to that all the bull**** the sanctioning bodies give fighters killing "Eras"

It has nothing to do with the fighters, if more elite HW fighters were showcased on a regular basis I'm pretty sure there would be a different discussion about the era.

Oh and there are more HW boxers now than ever ... it was never an issue about the HW division when Tyson was out and Undisputed champion _ even though that Era might have been one of the weakest in the history of the division.

The truth is these guys are big warriors and if given the chance these guys can make entertaining fights.

The HW division shouldn't have been the creame of the crop division and shouldn't have had the burden of carrying the sport.

Win or lose Wlad will be considered one of the greatest HW of all-time ... a rare combination of size, speed, athleticism, agility, height, and power ... there hasn't been too many HW's in history that have had all those atributes _ it would be hard to name 10 that had all those qualities all together, most had a couple but lacked something ... this guy is the total package --

The chin shouldn't even matter ... only 1 HW retired undefeated, it will never happen again ... these guys are huge and you think a fighter who can stand up to bombs coming from a 220 + pound guy on a regular basis then you don't know much about fighting let along boxing.

Is this a thread for posters who want to discourage Haye's win in advance should it happen?

    Thought so.

A David Haye win would be a big boost to the HW division ... and I read that K2 promotions would have rights to co-promote David Hayes next 3 fights ... it could make for some interesting drama, if Haye were to win.

A step closer to having more elitist in the HW ... there doesn't need to be a stand out champion if the division is filled with good fighters all around.
