Just to clarify when i say not well known I dont mean 'there not popular boxers, they dont sell fights' etc what i mean is ask 400 people "do you know who Wladimir Klitscho is" and then ask them "who is Ali, Lewis even eubank" or more simply use the girlfriend test

Did i say they were? or am i pointing out that a american boxing fan (an no i wasnt saying the bloke was just asking) commenting on european non boxing fans opinions of fighters is going to be wrong.

 

I am willing to bet you that Klitschkos made more of a name for themselves than Eubank in Europe.

I think Southboy thinks Eubank's popularity here in the UK will equal throughout Europe, it's like how my mother has never watched a fight but knows Benn, Eubank, Hamed, Bruno, Khan, Hatton and Calzaghe but would the average European person outside the UK know these fighters? I'd imagine not.

 

MrMagic - I think you like to attack people, I rarely make posts on this board however I have been following it and boxing for a long time, and I only comment when im sure of something. However if Im wrong I would admit it, however since you can poll europe and find out who is more popular or well known. And since you love Boxing enough to post 6,333 posts on a boxing forum and proberly know alot more then i do this is going to have a knock on effect onto your wife and son. Infact your Wife and son proberly have better knowledge then most average people.

 

ok I will admit Eubank was a mistake however My point still stands, In terms of sports celebritys considering the World Champion in the 'flagship' division is european the knowledge of him is less then what it should be. And the introduction of Haye even if it just brings out Klits media side is good for boxing.

I agree. Boxing needs a charismatic larger than life character like David Haye. Ali, Tyson and Holmes made this sport popular in their eras because they were charismatic and were interseting people who made fights interesting.

Wlad is a good fighter but he's got a boring personality inside and outside of the ring. I am not saying Haye will win, but Boxing needs him to.
