Conversely, which strategy would you advise Andrade to employ to maximise his chances of beating Bute and minimise his chances of losing to Bute, if you were his trainer?
Well Bute was doing it all right in the first fight untill the last round and he decided to engage instead of counter-punching and staying out of range. Tbh I don't know what the **** he was doing in the last round and he very nearly paid for it.
Move away from the right and counterpunch. And try to hit the body more often than in the first fight. A good uppercut to the liver is always painful.
If I were Bute's trainer, I'd ask him to use more powershots to the body and target his left eye with one-off lefts. Given Andrade's elbow problems and given that he can be hurt to the body, Bute should aim to target his body and elbows, even at the cost of getting roughed up somewhat on the inside. However, he shouldn't throw as many arm-punch combinations and he shouldn't clinch. Arm-punches and clinches were ineffective and only led to him using up too much energy. More powershots, more body/elbow shots and as much movement as possible, to create angles and stay out of Andrade's grasp and save as much energy as possible for the late rounds. I'd also make sure that Andrade wasn't allowed to wear his beltline as high as he did last time around. Bute could win a decision and even have a small chance of stopping Andrade with body shots/on cuts. If I were Andrade's trainer, I'd ask him to move his head more, to attack more from the very beginning and to sustain a higher tempo. Other than that, everything he did in the first fight worked fine. Andrade could grind Bute down and knock him out this way.
He did everything right last time. He's a far better boxer, he's got reach, he's got speed, he's got a good jab. All he needs to do is avoid getting into a brawl, box off the back foot for 12 rounds, and I mean the whole 12, not 11 like last time and then gas. Discipline is the key for Bute, if he stays disciplined, he uses his advantages to his own advantage and wins comfortably on the cards.
Everything he did in the first fight. With an emphasis on pacing himself, getting him into even better physical condition, and avoiding unnecessary exchanges.
Basically what he did in the first fight plus phasing himself better and exchange as less as possible. I doubt he can stop Andrade.
They both already executed their best gameplan in the first fight. For Andrade, maybe tell him to be more active in the middle rounds, and for Bute, tell him to conserve his energy better, but other than that, the fight just is what it is.
