Cotto would beat him at either weight.

    Very difficult to know now.

i would've always had Hatton at !40, because Cotto was starved. He'd have done a double-Torres on him.

for such relatively equally sized fighters, I'd have struggled to pick the higher weight... BUT... who knows what the Margarito fight did to Cotto? Margarito is now a proven cheat (no libel!!!! hurrah!!!!). Did that destroy Cotto? i'd pick any leading fighter vs Cotto right now at 147. Should Cotto come back to be a genuine force, that proves just how great a fighter he is.

the man was battered unfairly, and what is often forgotten about the Margo fight is that cott abosolutely fcuking battered Margo for six rounds. Imagine if Cotto had the Mosley confidence that some crap had been taken out of Margo's gloves? Cotto would've stopped him huge.

Right now, i'd go Hatton at 147. But only because I worry about Cotto's confidence.

Cotto was weight drained at 140 so my pick would be Hatton.
Cotto at 147, and the version that fought Margarito, would have steamrolled Hatton. Why? Hatton hasn't looked too good at '47, and he doesn't have Margarito's chin nor stamina.

The main reason why people say Hatton at 140 is because Cotto was never at his best at that weight. Before he struggled with the weight he was still developing as a fighter, and by the time he matured he was a welterweight. The best way to decide this is asking, p4p, who wins between the two, and I honestly (and probably some what biased) would say Cotto, and without leaving any doubts.

i don't think it could ever happen because hatton really struggled at 147 and cotto would be to weight drained at 140 can't see either fighter going back to those weights again

i feel hatton would be to strong for cotto at 140, but cotto would outbox him at 147
can't remember a fight where i was so sure 7 pounds would make the ultimate difference

This is where the prime for prime argument loses its weight.... Hatton's chin vs Tszyu would've stood up to anyone in any nearby weight... however, Hatton is a great one shot taker. Loads hurt him, he gets dazed. Lewis, for example, could get tw@ted by one shot, but took all those shots from VK and Mercer.

Now, as for Margo.... the well overrated proven cheat (wonderful to say that about Margo...) didn't get all the punches he deserved because people were terrified of the weight of shot coming in. Gotta love Mosley and his people... they found the gauze, got it out... and suddenly we had a fighter who could pile into the 'ferocious' punching power of Margo. You think Cotto couldn't have waded in more had the 'king cnut not been cheating?
the thing is, it's legally fair to question all of cheatin' Margo's victories now that we know he's a glove loading cheat. He could've fcuking killed someone. C*NT C*NT C*NT

Get the ******* out of the sport.

even if you don't like Hatton, never accuse him of being anything like that fcuking cheat who could've taken people's lives.

Margo should never, ever be allowed near a ring again. I don't like steroid takers, but at least I understand that they're trying to train themselves to be better. Having a gauze in the glove is purely risking someone else's life. Steroids is cheating, unfair, but it's about improving the ability to train, not about putting an anvil in the opponent's head.

Margo and his people should fcuk off from boxing. F*CK MARGARITO. He's one punch away from this sport being banned. F*CK MARGARITO.

Cotto wasn't always weight drained at 140, he was as good as he is at 147.
