If you don't know, does it matter? Well, I guess it will if he beats Duddy. :D

Billy Lyell. Another white kid from Ohio, but not nearly as good as Pavlik. He put up a decent fight against James Kirkland not that long ago. Didn't win rounds, but he didn't get knocked out early like everyone thought he would.

Probably because he said Pavlik hits harder with the 16 oz gloves in sparring than Kirkland did in the fight so he was prepared. :D

Billy last fought Vanes Martirosyan and went the distance. He lost, but won some rds in the fight. Billy likely won't ever be a serious threat to the elite, but he'll give them a helluva fight. He has a huge heart and cast iron chin.

Well if he's foolishly going to stay at Middleweight till he gets Pavlik(which he's said he is), then a fight with Peter Manfredo would be a good idea and Manfredo and his team are lining up Duddy should he win at the weekend.

Manfredo v Duddy would be a good fight for both men, and the winner would probably be a much better fight for Pavlik than Rubio was, even if it would still be a relatively easy nights work for Pavlik.

man i spoke to lyell the other week that dude is just showing up for a paycheck!

I asked him if he ever sparred with kelly and his reply was "kelly gets in his own guys to spar"

im guessing kelly doesnt like Billy too much which is a shame i thought he was a nice guy i kind of feel sorry for him though

I get the feeling Duddy's people are just propping him up until he cashes out against KP.

Lyell is tough and has heart.

    There the positives end.

I get the feeling this is just a keep busy fight and the progression of the new improved John Duddy under Pat Burns. He will probably be fighting 5 times this year and there will be time to up the level of opposition later in the year.

That said i wished they found a higher caliber of fighter to stick him in with, No disrespect to Lyell but i don't think he'll learn much in this fight.

I think it was you Boo who suggested Duddy fights Roman Karmazin later this year and that is really the kind of opponent John should be looking at right now.

Maybe you have the wrong Lyell-Your NUTS!! Billy Lyell has never just shown up for a paycheck ie fights the distance with Vanes, Yuri Boy and goes 8 w/ Kirkland and never goes down! Billy has the heart of a warrior and will go the distance w/ Duddy, if he could only punch. He doesn't spar with Kelly anymore, but they used to spar all the time. Cameron and Jack get the guys in to spar KP that best mimic the opp. style but Bliiy gets plenty of his own work.

Cast iron chin? He was knocked out cold by David Lopez, it's just called a TKO because the ref waived it off before he hit the floor.
