But for the record, I'll watch the fight, I'm a fan of both, style wise, science wise. I think it will be great, I predict JMM getting ****ed on the cards like he so has a habit of against more popular fighters, but I give him the chance to catch Floyd with something that might open up the shot for a drop. If it happens, it will be good

does anybody in this thread ever heard of a tune up?!?

floyd treats this fight as a tune up, and that is better than other greats who took cab drivers for their tune up. Lets all remember that floyd is no active fighter so everyone should stfu why he's fighting someone like jmm now.

He should fight an actual welterweight as a tune-up.

but he's fighting the winner of pac-hatton next which is about the same size as marquez except for hatton which is bigger so marquez was the best choice.

Matthew Hatton is a Welter. Do you really believe that Mayweather vs. Matthew Hatton would be a better fight than Floyd vs. Marquez?

Personally, I understand the criticism but I feel that this is an intriguing fight. Mayweather hasn't fought in almost two years and he's now taking on one of the best fighters in the sport. Remember, many people were highly criticial of Floyd for not jumping up from 140 to 154 to fight Wright when Wright was at 160. When you put two highly skilled fighters in the ring together, the weight isn't as significant as it normally would be.

    Which, again, smacks of cherrypicking.

The retired P4P #1 vs. the current P4P #2. This should be good.

    NOT.

Which again smacks of playa hating. You're still bitter PBF made your hero Hatton dance with the ring post deal with it..:hi:

I can't believe people will toss JMM in the garbage so quickly just to discredit Floyd.

I mean JMM is alot smaller than Floyd but Floyd is coming off a big layoff while JMM is on a mean streak. And its not like JMM relies on his size to win fights.

I think it's a surprisingly risky fight. He won't get credit beating JMM...JMM is just way too physically small.

However, you just can't take the #2 pfp fighter as a tuneup...I don't care if you are Paul Williams and the fight is at 160...JMM is a master boxer...he WILL land on you, and you aren't going to just school the guy. He's a difficult fight for anyone.

    :good

Although I think it's not a good fight for Floyd...it just doesn't mean much if the size difference is so apparent.

He should have a tune up, then fight Cotto. Lets see how good Mayweather really is.

Marquez does'nt rely on size, but he is far away from being a pitter patter type the likes of Whitaker and say Winky Wright.......Size can very well make a difference in this fight......

The thing about Marquez is that he puts real effort in his shots and he works 3 minutes of every round......he's not the type to stall and rest as a defensive fighter like Mayweather may do.......thats really the main reason why I want this fight at closer to 140 than 147 lbs......

.....people dont realize that just a few added pounds can make a big difference in a fighters workrate......for JMM, it will be 9 lbs heavier than he's ever been if the fight is contracted at 144 lbs, against Mayweather who has become accustomed to making 147 lbs for a few years now.

You would think that since Mayweather is the bigger fighter more near his prime......you would want him handicapped a bit for the fight.....but as some have already mentioned, he has taken over DLH's mantle in boxing and will never handicap himself against anyone for the sake of giving fightfans a credible event.

......instead, its looking more like the older smaller Marquez will sacrifice for the fight to happen.

Marquez has become the man that always makes concessions, but is never truly appreciated.......what a night it would be if he pulled off the upset against Mayweather after conceding everything to him.

......there's a few people in this forum I would not be suprised went into cardiac arrest!
......I reckon littlefloyd who is calling this just a tuneup for Mayweather, would never post here again if Marquez pulled the upset.:yep

In any regards, this is how I see the fighters chances or winning imo......

60/40% in Mayweather's favor if the fight was held at 142 lbs or below......

70/30 if at 144 lbs.......people will be suprised at just how competitive the fight may be even at this weight, but I just dont like Marquez' chances to get over the hump to win it in the late rounds at that weight.

Any weight above that is ridiculous to even contemplate.
