Sutherland's new column up on Irish-boxing.com, also a bit with Luke Wilton ahead of Saturday and Podge's preview of the Cork bill.
Thanks Cormac. Where you at the Ulster Hall last night. I know the place wasn't full due mainly to the last minute withdrawals, but the old place has lost something of it's old magic. But I suppose tomorrow night will answer that question in terms of atmosphere, if a full house[ they have greatly reduced the seating] cannot conjure up something, then the people in charge of the refit have made a complete mess of their project. Wasnt there. Had to go to a pre-marriage course last night. One of our lads Declan Trainor was one of the withdrawals from the heavyweights with a fractured cheekbone - happened against Danny Tourish in the semis.
Another one bites the dust[marriage the ruin of my many a young man ]I read about Trainor yesterday Cormac. I think Sweeney would have beaten him anyway, although Declan is showing considerable progress.Next years Commonweath Games must be in your man's radar? I was speaking to Jamie Conlan last night. He plans to turn pro[although he hasn't signed any contract yet] and make his debut on the McCloskey/Witter clash.
for anyone who didnt listen to on the grind last night... shame on you! Lindsay will get a crack at Cristobal Cruz if he beats appleby this will come after Cruz's next mandatory defense
alright rebel,im getting my tickets later on.only found out a few days ago dat u actually don't need 2 fill the table,u can buy single tickets.there are 7 of us going, although I only know 2 of them, like u none of my friends were that interested in going either. so if u want 2 join in on our table,ur more than welcome.should be a great nights boxing. this is spikes opponent http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=60825&cat=boxer
Jesus at first sight Spikes guy is 19-15 and you say great at last a step up then you look at his last 10 (9 losses and being knocked out in 5 of those) and you get that sick feeling again. atsch.Hope Power has a tough one he may be called on to save the show again by getting into another war with a tough eastern european journeman i'm realy starting to like him. :good
Loses to Mathew Macklin, Jason McKay and the very tough Ukrainian Vitali Tsypko don't look too bad could be tougher than his record shows.
Lads this isnt irish boxing related but may interest some of you , iknow paddy will be interested On the froch match Tim Smith of the new york daily news wrote “Since I’ve never seen Froch, I can’t say whether it will be difficult or easy, but I can see Taylor outboxing him and winning a decision.’’ Is it just me or is that the typical view the yanks are taking on this fight , i think they may have underestimated froch, having said that i can see taylor getting a late tko maybe. Great show last night paddy, spike and power have awful thick accents i could barley under stand power imagine what the americans were like.
