Scott Harrison Jailed in Spain!!

    Former boxing champion Scott Harrison has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison by a court in Spain.
    Harrison was detained by officers from the country's National Police when he landed at Malaga Airport on Thursday.
    The 31-year-old was found guilty of attempting to steal a car and assaulting two men in the vehicle as well as a policeman in October 2006.
    He spent five weeks in a maximum security Spanish jail after his initial arrest near Malaga.
    Harrison had a glittering career in boxing, becoming WBO featherweight champion in 2002 and subsequently defending it successfully.
    But he has faced problems with alcohol, drugs and depression, and in 2006 he was declared bankrupt, stripped of both his WBO title and his licence to box for bringing the sport into disrepute.
    He was jailed in Scotland last year after admitting drink driving, assault and breaching bail conditions.
    Harrison was released from Glasgow's Barlinnie prison in December, after serving four months of a eight-month sentence.
    A judge in Spain issued an international arrest warrant after he failed to attend court last September, when he was serving time in Barlinnie.
    Harrison, who is battling to get his boxing licence back, was found guilty of the attempted robbery and assaulted, after a drinking binge with his late uncle in October 2006.

    he not mr bad luck,he a man with a full bag of chips on his shoulder,the boy acts like a thug.
    a real waste of talent ,he was a great boxer,could of been a class act one of the best

    Yep he could have gone down as one of Scotlands best ever instead he might be consigned to the coulda, woulda, shoulda bin.

    I feel sorry for his fans, and I feel sorry for him(in a way), he probably deserves the punishment but I feel sorry for him from the point of view of him being who he is. I doubt anyone would want their life to be so destructive.

    At 31, and up at Lightweight presumely(although there was word he could make Super-Featherweight :shock:) I would have given him a chance to still do something domestically, be able to live a decent life from boxing and perhaps(if just for the few years his career continued) turn his life around.

    He'll be 34 years old when he gets out, and if he still wants to pursue a boxing career then I don't envisage much success.

    Outside of the ring he appears to be scum so good riddance. Inside the ring he was geuinely a top British fighter, not Warren made like Cook or Arthur. Those guys are good but Harrison was proven well beyond those guys.

    it's a shame, like achilles said he was genuine world class which is rare in Britain and he got there from pure hard work, he was not a world class talent so anyone who said he wasted his talent is wrong because Scott dedicated his childhood, teenage years and adult years purely to boxing, with his dad being his coach and eventually it cought up with him and he went off the rails. I don't think he's scum like said above but he's a troubled individual and lost his way after achieving something great which most people can not say they have done.

    A real shame it turned out like it did for Scott Harrison. Hope he can get his life back together when he comes out.

    unfortantly this maybe what he needs to sort himself out it wont be easy time in there but he maybe able to sober up and refocus, his boxing career is over but it has been for several years now as it was clear in the build up to the nicky cook he didnt have
    he should be given alot of credit for what he achieved in the ring but not for what he did out of it
