Some local had told me this would be closer than people expect. Hope this does Billy some good, especially since it was over his natural weight against a ranked opponent. Might even raise Jack Loew's stock as a trainer and corner? :think
Should be interesting. Both Duddy and Burns were both considered more talented. Yeah, Duddy had his detractors, but he was considered better than Billy.
I'm not surprised Duddy has lost, he was close enough against another poor fighter in Smichet. I'm only surprised he lost to this kid. Least it keeps him away from Pavlik, Lyle has done us a big favour. Everyone except Vincent knew it was a complete waste of time.
:rofl:rofl I can't figure that dude out to save my life....:rofl But have to give him credit for starting a ass load of threads on the MW's of the world.
That you have to give him. Most people hang on to the top few in a division and crap on anyone lower. VG does a nice job of keeping the lower echelon guys in view.
Lyell's calibre of opposition >>>>>> Duddy's calibre of opposition. Major upset? Not really, it was always going to happen. Having a defense is actually quite important in boxing, although it seems to have taken 27 fights for Duddy to realise this...
MW is the saddest division in boxing. Makes the heavyweights look like a bunch of Marquez' and Pacquiao's
Billy is a JMW. I heard him in an interview say he didn't know what weight this fight was even at but I've heard Duddy missed it by 5 pounds.
I'd say that's untrue. Duddy came in at 157 lbs, why would they make the fight for 152 lbs, when Duddy hadn't even dropped to 154 yet ? Not saying it didn't come in overweight, I don't know what weight the fight was contracted at, but you can bet 154lbs will be the lowest it could be.
Good. Maybe Pavlik will finally step up to the plate and fight Abraham if and when they get past Mora & Lorenzo respectively.
