Hmm... Interesting. I'll have to wait to see the fight. Possible from that report that John may not have been 100%? I was surprised this fight wasn't at 154 to start with. That is where John belongs at this time.
Lyell won, but on ESB it must mean Duddy sucks. I can't possibly mean Lyell was ready, properly trained, and better than people thought. Nor, on ESB, can it possibly mean that Jack Leow knows a little about what he is doing. Must mean Duddy sucks.
Good. I won't have to sit through this hype job on numerous undercards now. I always knew he was VASTLY overrated.
I thought Duddy looked better than ever in his last fight. I don't know if I've ever seen Lyell; nothing comes to mind. However, I do know that very few people on ESB will give Jack and Billy credit. They'll just bad mouth Duddy.
Holy ****! His people blew it, and Pavlik just lost a potential easy night with decent pay. I can't believe his people blew it! Watch, though, he will still get his title shot within 18 months. Guaranteed. :smoke
I honestly did not know anything about Lyell. And despite the Pavlik loss, I do think Loew is a decent trainer, and Lyell was the underdog in the fight, that can bring out the best in a fighter, it has happened before. Did anyone see the fight? Duddy looked decent in his last fight, was out of form in this one? I expect we will hear about a rematch. It wasnt as if Duddy has been taken seriously as a champion level fighter. Even his promoters know he will never be more a decent B-level fighter that might challenge for a title. I expect he will win 2 or 3 fights and be back in the mix
The Irish Central website made it sound like the fight was a war. John was cut twice over the left eye, and Lyell was bleeding all over the place from a cut across the bridge of his nose. They also said the discipline John showed in the Vanda fight was absent. Makes me think Lyell sucked Duddy into a brawl and just beat him up.
