Good evening brothers and sisters of ESB. I have a challenge for you.... Rank these 15 fighters. Pernell Whitiker Roy Jones Jnr James Toney Terry Norris Joe Calzaghe Felix Trinidad Oscar De La Hoya Julio Cesar Chavez Floyd Mayweather Jnr Shane Mosley Bernard Hopkins Winky Wright Naseem Hamed Marco Antonio Barrera Manny Pacioauio I want you to rate them twice.... once on there overall achievements taking into account their opposition, the titles they won, who they beat and who they avoided and once on how they would fair h2h p4p against each other on the best day of their careers.... Hopefully I will prove a point... one way or another
1. jcc 2roy jones jr. 3.whittaker 4.hopkins 5.mayweather 6.trinidad 7.barrera 8.mosley 9.morales 10.de la hoya 11.toney 12.calzaghe 13.naz 14.pac man 15.norris thats my opinion but probably a bit of bias as well.some of my fave ever fighters in there
Jeff anything for you. just done it quickly might research it over weekend Achievement 1. Whittaker 2. Jones Jr 3. Chavez 4. Mayweather Jr 5. Hopkins 6. De La Hoya 7. Wright 8. Trinidad 9. Mosley 10. Norris 11. Pacquiao 12. Toney 13. Barrera 14. Hamed 15 Calzaghe 6-13 were hard to do IMO H2H at their best weight 1. Whittaker (Lightweight) 2. Mayweather Jr (Super Feather) 3. Jones Jr (Super Middle) 4. Chavez (Super Feather) 5. Hopkins (Middle) 6. Toney (Super Middle) 7. Norris (Light Middle) 8. Wright (Light Middle) 9. Barrera (Super Bantam) 10. Hamed (Feather) 11. Calzaghe (Super Middle) 12. Mosley (Lightweight) 13. Trinidad (Welter) 14. De La Hoya (Welter) 15. Pacquaio (Feather) really really hard from 6-15
I'd have Mosley and DLH higher on that H2H list. Mosley's opposition wasn't all that at 135.... but none of them heard the final bell, whilst of DLH had had some judges with eyes....
yeh but its so hard maybe there abit low but who do you kick down instead Jeff your a ***** making that so hard :fire
I'd drop Norris a fair few places, ditto Wright but not as many. I am actually going to abstain.... being a fairly newcomer I don't want to make some ridiculous picks. For instance, Trinidad doesn't greatly impress me, nor does Norris - certainly not by comparison to most of the others, anyway.
H2H 1. Pernell Whitaker 2. Roy Jones Jr 3. Bernard Hopkins 4. Julio Cesar Chavez 5. Oscar De La Hoya 6. Felix Trinidad 7. Floyd Mayweather Jnr 8. Manny Pacquiao 9. Marco Antonio Barrera 10 Winky Wright 11. Naseem Hamed 12. James Toney 13. Shane Mosley 14. Joe Calzaghe
Newer on ESB yes, but I'd guess you have been participating longer than I have been watching on more than just a casual basis.
Achivement 1. Roy Jones Jr 2. Pernell Whitaker 3. Julio Cesar Chavez 4. Bernard Hopkins 5. Oscar De La Hoya 6. Floyd Mayweather Jr 7. Manny Pacquaio 8. Felix Trinidad 9. Shane Mosley 10. Winky Wright 11. James Toney 12. Marco Antonio Barrera 13. Joe Calzaghe 14. Naseem Hamed
Morning dudes.... quality lists. Your right about it being tough to choose because there are some really great fighters on there.... I see Norris has been kept rather low.. That doesn't suprise me as at first glance his record is full of losses mostly by KO however he was unbelievably talented at his best. [YT]jHqX9ybj8go[/YT] He beat vincent pettway, paul vaden, simon brown, maurice blocker, meldrick taylor, carl danials, jorge castro, don curry, sugar ray leonard, john mugabi, buster drayton, jorge vaca, quincy taylor and steve little- unbelievable opposition by any standards. My list would be something like this achievement 1. Oscar De La Hoya 2. Roy Jones jr 3. JCC 4. Pernell Whitiker 5. Floyd Mayweather jnr 6. Felix Trinidad 7. Manny Pac 8. Shane Mosley 9. Bernard Hopkins 10. Winky Wright 11. Barrera 12. Terry Norris 13. James Toney 14. Naseem Hamed 15. Joe Calzaghe h2h 1. JCC 2. RJJ 3. Pernel Whitiker 4. Floyd MAyweather 5. Oscar De La Hoya 6. Marco Antonio Barrera 7. James Toney 8. Terry Norris 9. Shane Mosley 10. Naseem Hamed 11. Felix Trinidad 12. Manny Pac 13. Bernard Hopkins 14. Winky Wright 15. Joe Calzaghe
So can we come to the conclusion that you don't like Calzaghe? Commenting on your lists Jeff... Achievements wise I would swap Mosley and Trinidad, Barrera above Wright, Calzaghe perhaps above Hamed - further thought required from me on that issue. H2H.... I haven't seen enough of Chavez, but would certainly place Whitaker (and perhaps Mayweather and DLH) above Jones...... swap Hamed and Pac around, and Hopkins and Trinidad.
A p4p list is a p4p list. It takes into account both, primarily achievement. Pernell Whitaker Bernard Hopkins Roy Jones Jr Julio Cesar Chavez Floyd Mayweather Manny Pacquiao Marco Antonio Barrera James Toney Oscar De La Hoya Joe Calzaghe Felix Trinidad Shane Mosley Ronald Winky-Wright Naseem Hamed I'm sorry I couldn't rank Terry Norris. Just havn't studied his career in detail, I'm not sure why.
It's amazing how Hamed is better than Pacquiao H2H yet Pacquiao stopped Barrera and Hamed looked like a novice.
