Once again Wilder showed off his big power against tomato can Joseph Rabotte. He looked good but now that I got a more clear look at him, I see what flaws he has. The Good of Wilder: Big KO power Great Handspeed Decent Defense The Bad of Wilder: Tendency to lean foward Right Hand happy Needs work on his balance and Footwork. I think he has the potential to become a champ someday maybe Unified or even Undisputed if he's managed right. What do you think of him?
i like wilder. remember watching him during the olympics and he seems a like a nice fella. i hope he does well in the division for america. i assume your a haye fan, and i found it funny that the strengths and weaknesses of wilder are similar to what haye's strengths and weaknesses are too. only haye hasn't seemed to changed much after all this time. i hope wilder can polish his game before he gets too comfortable because the longer you get away with flaws the harder it is to believe you need to remove them on the elite level. by the way im not hating on haye. even tho im a big klitschko fan, i really do enjoy watching haye when he's fighting other opponents :good
I hope they start working on his bad habits. He needs to fix that habit of leaning in. He's open for a left hook counter. Bad habit. He's young so they can fix it. I like the kid though, good power, good handspeed and is in good shape. I hope he stays that way.
I am a Haye fan but not a nuthugger, I will be rooting for him to win. I see what you are saying when comparing the two fighters because they are both very athletic and fast Heavyweights with a similar style. Wilder's chin is yet to be tested though.
They probably will. He's in good hands; just look at how he was getting a lesson after the fight by his trainer, Mark Breland.
He should be matched with Tyson Fury soon so we can see who is for real. I think Wilder would brutally KO Fury.
You know, I never knew Breland was his trainer. I'm sure Breland will fix it. Thanks for telling me that! :good As far as him fighting Fury, let them both get better then fight. Not now.
yeah i think wilder will stay in shape. to me fighters who usually come from poverty and fight for a better life seem more likely to stack on the weight when they get wealthy, but fighters who come from okay backgrounds and are fit usually have the focus during their career because it's a lifestyle thing. as for fighting tyson fury that would be a fun matchup but as we all know promoters would not put two potential money-making prospects in together before it is unavoidable. e.g. an eliminator or mandatory. i don't mind waiting until they have a few fights, because it would be a shame to have two prospects fight this early when both are not at their maximum abilities yet.
I think Wilder is better than Fury and would beat him. Let's not put them in with each other until they absoulutely have to.
wilder seems like a natural athlete, not a natural fighter. i think they need to put him in tougher soon. john duddy got surprised yesterday, the same could happen to wilder. the fights he's had may make him feel indistructable and that can hurt later (remember michael grant). i would like to see him in with a tough dude who is also a new pro with 1 or no losses. that said, his speed, power, and reflexes could make him a formidable heavy, and i expect breland will get him on track.
Give him a few more fights. He's still very raw and has bad habits. Once he gets refined a bit, then let him make a step up in competition.
yeah at the moment i think wilder would beat fury. but it will still be fun to watch two big, big fighters who actually have skill and fitness aside from the K bros obviously.
He seems to have pretty good power but I wasn't really impressed by much else. He got bullied back by that tomato can until he landed the first punch to shake him up, and that guy pretty much just walked in winging punches, an opponent with skill would have knocked him on his arse within 30 seconds. He has time to improve but he seems a bit too cocky for his own good, the whole landing with a right and holding back up over his head was nauseating.
