Marquez was going to fight Hamed? didnt know that i honestly think Marquez would have won i think to beat Hamed you have to have sound fundamentals and JMM has excellant fundamentals
Morales, Barrera, Marquez all school Hamed. Pacquiao stops him. Whitaker and Roy Jones are the clear H2H stand outs, they were unreal. Old ass Whitaker made Hoya and Chavez look like clowns. Got robbed.
Marquez would hammer Hamed..... would be embarrassing. 119-109 or something like that. Stylewise it's a much worse matchup than Barrera. Strangely.... I feel he would have more of a chance with Pacquiao than any of the 3 elite Mexicans, but could end up being stopped.
all i gave was Chavez 2 rounds it was a blatant robbery i dont think Pac-man beats Naz as he dosent have good enough Fundamentals i see them both getting dropped but Hamed KOing him in the mid rounds
Having watched it.... I gave Chavez 3 1/2 rounds, possibly 4. I feel DLH nicked the fight with Whitaker, but was made to look **** in the process. Can't argue with the verdict, could have gone either way IMO, though the cards were rather odd - as is often the case in America.
Either way, it quite cleatly demonstrated how good Pea was at lightweight, at his absolute peak. I give him the edge over Jones H2H simply because he fought greater competition at each weight. Jones has a couple of outstanding wins, but Hopkins wasn't quite peak and Toney had a few problems. Not that he wouldn't have beaten them anyway, but I give the edge to the guy that demonstrated his abilities on a consistent basis against all styles.
i didnt think JCC was effective enough in his agression to get more than 2 rounds and Whittakers defence nuetralised any effective aggresion anyway didnt know that but it hink JMM would have schooled Naz btw looking over the lists Jeff your the only one i disagree with i think ODLH is abit too high in achievements for my likings but suppose he did win 7 titles
I think DLH's achievements are excellent, TBH. In the modern era of split titles and people ducking all over the place.... his level of opposition is (pretty much) without equal.
Level of competition does not mean much on an ATG list unless you won. Oscar just lost too many. Titles are one thing, even though many are paper, but when it comes down to who he beat I don't think he deserves to be ranked over many of these.
I agree.... But he certainly beat Trinidad, and fairly easily as well - again, I didn't watch it live but having watched a replay of it.... 116-112 to DLH. The pair of fights with Mosley, a diehard DLH fan could argue that he won both.... I think Mosley nicked the 1st, while Oscar clearly won the return - even Shane's face when announced as the winner told the full story. He looked a beaten man IMO. The Hopkins fight was a step too far, he didn't belong at MW, but at least he had the balls to get in there with the undisputed champ, and whilst losing, was still in the fight at the time of the stoppage.
But didn't win a world title until about a year after Hamed had retired... I don't think Hamed should be judged in hindsight for not fighting JMM who was basically a nobody when Naz was the main man.
Well, JMM lost to Freddie Norwood in his first title shot in '99, so I see no reason why Hamed wouldn't have beaten him as well.
