At his BEST, could any heavyweight of the last 20 years have beaten Mike Tyson?

    boxingfan#1 I won't argue with you. I think you're rightm, except I don't know about Bowe.

thesandman51 Holyfield? No. I respect him greatly for his accomplishments. But no way.

Evander Holyfield would have beaten any version of Mike Tyson. The resurging George Foreman might have done it as well. I would be willing to bout a peak Lennox Lewis in there as well.

Mike Tyson was one of the most devastating punchers ever to enter the ring without a doubt. It's hard to rate him historically but will become easier as time goes by - as it was with Larry Holmes.

Very strange comment... Not to say I disagree with your overall argument (athletes evolve) but the skipping part...try comparing apples to apples.
There are videos of Duran skipping out there...arguably better than Floyd...proves nothing.

NoCoolFool - Good point. It was a weird comparison. What i was trying to get across was that sports are better now. Even sports that don't have the technology (equipment) advantage i.e. golf, hockey. Take Rowing and running as an example. In both sports, the records are broken over and over as the talent gets deeper and the training gets tougher and more efficient. People know more about boxing now than they did then, and boxers are therefore better trained.

In the last 20 year, Prime Lewis stands a 30% chance IMO.

I think he would walk through (decent guys who I like by the way) guys like Ibeabuchi and Tua just like he did with guys in the 80's. Valuev and the Klitschko's wouldn't fare much better against the iron-chinned, super-fast, fluid and powerful Animal that was Kid Dynamite.

I think in history, the best chance was Prime Larry Holmes. I think Tyson would've been Hell for Ali as I feel in his prime he was better than Joe Frazier, Ali would have more than just the left hook to worry about.

Prime George Foreman is one I'm not certain about, I think Kid Dynamite would win in a war.

In the last 20 years, as in '89 to now, Prime Lewis (I don't know which Lewis that would be but I'm inclined to say the Lewis that beat Rahman in the rematch, big, strong, well conditioned, well-schooled, focus) has the best chance, but the Kid Dynamite that reigned supreme for those couple of years is a match for any HW in history IMO.

I honestly think that version of Tyson would beat any HW at any given time in history. Shame it all went so wrong.

What was Tyson's best win? An old inactive Holmes? A Light Heavyweight in Spinks?

Mike fought in a very weak era. One of the worst 3 era's in the history of the sport.

He was at the right place at the right time and a product of his era. There are several Heavyweights that would have beat him.

I'd give the very best Lewis a good chance, Holyfield too. Hard to say with Bowe, he had all the tools but did he ever actually have a prime :huh I'd give prime Foreman and Holmes a good chance too but their primes didn't happen in the last 20 years, I'd have actually feared for old Georges life had he fought Tyson back in 1989, he'd have taken a horrible beating.

Lol at Riddick. He gets hit too much. He would get flattened. Lewis got KO'd by Rahman and McCall. Prime Tyson had a great chance vs him.

I don't think Tyson ever beats Holyfield. Holyfield owned him mentally and physically. Holy had an Iron Chin and punched Mike back and was rough with him. Holyfield took Mike's soul from him and made him his *****. Twice.

Prime Tyson has a great chance against anyone but you're a fool if you write off a prime Bowe. I'm curious here, Bowe, a guy who was 43-1, never ko'd and only beaten by decision vs Holyfield would be 'flattened'.
