Yeah, I guess this is the new trend.

According to Frankie, Izzy has been cleared by the doctor to go back to the gym and train. That is all I know at this point.

I think Izzy is the only guy @ 122 that has a shot against Juan Ma. Cab is awkward as hell, but he's sloppy, and with Juan's patience, he would slowly break Cab down. Against Rafa, Juan boxes just as well as him and he's naturally bigger and a lot more fresh.

Of course...you actually think people will give him credit for beating Izzy or Rafa...they'll just say oh, they were old and shot...bla bla bla...

in all fairness, i have heard 90% of ricans claim tito softened up several fighters for other fighters later. but there is no way those brutal wars between rafa and izzy could have taken anything out of them right? let me know where i am off on this.

OK...so JuanMa should not get credit should he beat either of them...Yes they are probably not the same fighters as they were prior to their trilogy, but they are still top 10 P4P fighters..are they not...Let me ask you how much credit do you give Pac for beating MAB and Morales after their trilogy????:think

i would give juanma all the credit in the world for beating those that need to be beat in order for him to be the best. its not his fault that they may be shop worn when its his time under the sun. but ten years down the line when a new young lion comes and whips juanma i am going to take into account where juanma was at his best and what that win really means.

i have been watching boxing for 30+ years and i have seen all these scenarios played out many times before. i remember what was being said about every new promising star on the rise and every legend on the way down. im not hearing anything new or seeing anything for the first time so i can better put things into perspective than a fan who is seeing the cycle for the first time. juanma has the potential to be really big but there have been others before him in exactly the same place who never quite reached the stars. i hope for the sake of boxing that juanma does reach those heights, we need him.

I am still curious as to how JuanMa chin will stand up to a real power punching 122 lber. God bless Gerry, but he was just too small. I am also aware that JuanMa took out Ponce De Leon last year, but he got him out of there so quick that he (JuanMa) didn't take that many punches. Against warriors (and full fledged 122lbers with serious firepower) like Vasquez and Marquez, I think we might see a little less offensive JuanMa.

you can be sure he wont be throwing the same #s against those two but he has the power to earn some respect early also. if he can keep from getting caught early, i think his young body may be able to recover better from the shots taken and pull in front in the later rounds. i dont expect izzy to recover like he used to so he would need to seriously hurt juanma early to keep him off in the later rounds. right now i favor izzy because of his experience in real wars against top shelf talent but the guard has to change sometime.
