Let me start by saying I admire the guys resiliency to take fights deep and win them on his heart and guts. Plus he had balls coming to the states and fighting a good fighter like JT.

But. wtf is he doing in there defensively? Left hand really low..some kinda white guy shoulder roll? His relfexes arent great. His footwork is average and his hand speed is below average.

Between him and Andrade we clearly have 2 of the top guys in the division with possibly the worst defenses...ever. Why doesnt he keep his hands up and cover better?

Andrade rolls with punches better, and would probably destroy froch.

  3. He says he keeps his hands low because he gets better leverage for his punches...... I think his reactions are underated.... he dodges and rides alot of punches

Hey! Andrade blocks punches plenty good! He's taken the world-acclaimed Gatti Technique and brought it to the next level!

Yeah Froch's defense has always baffled me. Froch's a great guy and gutsy fighter, but when you hear him or unaware biased british boxing commentators talk about him, its as though they think he is Roy Jones. No idea why he uses that half guard, he has terrible reaction timing and foot speed so he takes a lot of unnecessary punches.

He has to dangle the lead arm so he can land his jab. It's looser. He's too slow otherwise.

I think he needs to switch trainers. Someone who would help him defenssively. Its not to late for him to learn some good defensive techniques. really he has a lot of room to improve.

I mean it looks like he wants to roll with it and he just squares up or bends slightly forward. Its really, really sad looking and he frequently eats a flush punch as the result.

Froch is a good fighter. He will learn. I think he learned a lot tonight.

I think he needs to switch trainers. His corner tonight to me was less than impressive. Its a bit of a shame that he has been allowed to go as far as he has without some changes to his style, I mean you can see the heart in the guy, just why not improve on your defense some!
