I would favor Pavlik over Froch right now. Froch got hit flush a ton last night and I think it is safe to say that Pavlik hits notably harder than Taylor. Also, Pavlik will not run out of gas late in the fight as Taylor did. I still would like to see Pavlik take a meaningful fight at 168 before a championship. Pavlik needs to eat right and put on the 8lbs in muscle and not just excess weight. Maybe a Pavlik vs. Andrade fight. I hope Froch and Pavlik do eventually get in the ring, they're both class guys and it would be interesting.

I would guess he would let his walk around weight go up 5 pounds when he makes the move. That would make it easier on him to make weight. 3 pounds is a lot when you don't carry fat.

I think Andrade would be a tougher fight than Froch to be perfectly honest. We know Taylor put down Froch, but who puts down Andrade?

It would be a great scrap no doubt, two guys who know how to go forward.

Apart from those few moments where he toyed with Rubio, I've never really been impressed with his defence. I don't think he really needs a defence - when he's pressuring people relentlessly, his offence is his defence, 'cos when they open up to try and hit him they end up taking worse shots themselves, which stops them from counter-punching effectively. Illness aside, I think the Hopkins fight shows that Kelly's defensive abilities are very limited without his attacking drive. I'm sure it's improving, but it's still not, and it needn't be, his best attribute.

I actually don't remember this. Maybe you're confusing dreams and reality again?

Nope. Remember the poster Master Calzaghe? He was pissed as hell at Joe and has since gone away over this. I'm not going to do the search for something that you should know going by your join date.

Ah the old 'I'm not going to do a search' to back up my claim technique.

Pavlik and Hopkins got $3 million each. Even if we assume that Pavlik was going to fight Calzaghe for free, that still leaves another four million to come from somewhere for a fight that is not anymore obviously higher grossing. Or was Uncle Bob going to stage a charity affair out of his own pocket?

You honestly don't remember the negotiations going on between Warren and Arum during the Lockett fight? You don't remember people saying it was OK for Joe to turn down the $10 mill because he would make more fighting Jones? Were you on vacation or do you suffer from Calzaghe amnesia? Like when Joe forgot Kelly's name after Papa Enzo witnessed what happened first hand to Joe's stablemate Gary?

I admit my 168 foo is weak but growing. I remember people saying he stayed on his feet against Kessler, so I couldn't imagine anyone putting him down.

I remember that, though there was the slight flaw that Warren didn't actually have a contract to promote Calzaghe at that time.

No, I remember him getting paid $10 million to fight Jones (with no cuts for outside promoters). And I remember you and Booraddley and others making this 'Pavlik offered 10 million claim' and not being able to provide any evidence beyond internet annecdote. So I guess we're still waiting.

The only link I ever found to the $10 million to fight Jones was a Welsh rag story that was attributed to Joe. Coincidence Joe told them it was the same amount he turned down to fight Pavlik? :think

Feel free to link to that one then, it would be a start.

If it's the Wales on Sunday article I'm thinking of though, it doesn't say that at all :think
