Are there any qualifications? What if you don't meet the qualifications, but you can get a sponser and raise enough money to go in as an individual or something?

Anyway, this is real critical information, so anyone who knows let me know.

So a person can't just walk in and sign up for a fight?

Nope, you need to go to regional golden gloves first. You will need your passbook and I think $30 to enter(not quite sure, maybe you don't need to pay). If you have less than 5 fights, you will be in sub-novice. Less than 10, then novice; 10 or more, then open class.

Serious question - I heard there's a big boxing event of some sort in London in 2012. I've been punching my friends mum in the gut a lot lately, and she says I've got crazy power. Do you know where I need to sign up to enter? Please, I really want to box there!

    Why is that funny?

That's probably why there are no decent pros anymore. The amateur process is such bull****.

My man DJ for instance loses a fight for showboating too much when he's clearly whipping the other guy's ass.

Nobody wants to put up with that. Besides, most people have jobs and can't fight countless fights against countless straight up and down opposition.

    The whole process is bull****.

What if you get a sponser?

Isn't there a way to get in with a sponser?

No, golden gloves is a tournament. You simply can't jump into the middle of a tournament. Plus this is national golden gloves now.

Because you work your way up and earn your place! It's a national tournament, where you have to earn the right to box by beating everyone in your region. If you didn't, you don't deserve to box there. Next you'll be saying some bum can just show up to the olympics without qualifying.

Out of interest, how many bouts have you had?

You should probably start by joining a gym and learning the basic rules. Or just become a pro because you obviously haven't the faintest idea how the amateur system works.

Let me break it down. This is national Golden Gloves. The boxers there are all the best boxers from their respective franchises. THey don't let some yahoo who isn't registered with USA Boxing and hasn't progressed through their LBC and Regional Golden Gloves in. You have to earn a spot, it's not some open to anyone tournament. So there you have it. Not only that, but if you showed up you'd get ****ing hammered anyway, you have to have at least 5 fights to even enter the LBC tournament that advances to Nationals.
