pacmans achievment if he wins

A Pac victory over Hatton is by far a greater achiement than beating DLH, Pac should be given his due just in the way he completely destroyed DLH.......


I've got to say that I'm one that does'nt think Pac will beat Hatton, so I'll surely wont put any if's on his victory.

Let me just say that if Pac beats Hatton, hopefully it will be thoroughly.......which means in every way.....


The only way imo where a Pac victory would'nt be given the ultimate credit is if Hatton for some reason crumbled early from a single Pac shot without much in exchanges having taken place.
......this type of scenario would just have alot of fans questioning Hatton's chin after getting KO'd by Mayweather and hurt by Lazcano.

Pac would do himself a service by proving over a few rounds that he can hang in every way vs a physical 140 pounder like Hatton before actually stopping him.

Hatton is a legit threat, still at or near his prime and fighting in the weight class he's comfortable in.......there is absolutely no reason why Pac should'nt get his proper dues for a non-controversial victory of Hatton.

Why would you need to say that? It's FACT. Look, if you think that Hatton and Cotto aren't "suckers" for the right hand (rear hand power shot) you haven't been watching very closely, or not enough at all. Cotto, in particular, is more vulnerable to a good counter right hand than virtually anyone in the sport. And Hatton is just a sucker for everything due to how wild he is, so saying he's not a sucker for something, or anything, is comedy to begin with.

You still don't get it with this basic movement stuff, eh?

P, if you can't see by now how uncomfortable Pacquiao is with da bum rush I can't do nothing for ya. Go ahead and make this about something else. Calling a fight, and accurately predicting and understanding basic movement and how two styles will clash is the hard thing. That's something else entirely.

Describe a sequence between Hatton and Pacquiao. Landing a counterpunch on a guy who launches forward isn't going to cut it. That's as easy as saying Pacquiao, the favorite, is going to win.

 

Hatton is bobbing and weaving, cutting down the ring as Pac is moving backwards. As Hatton moves his right foot forwards, Pacquiao puts his weight down on his left foot and snaps out a lead left hand and ducks to the left of Hatton and turns him.

 

Pacquiao the fearless and mighty bullfighter, yeh? It sounds good. In theory.

Have you ever seen Hatton fight? I can GUARANTEE you that's not the end of the sequence. That's about half a sequence. Much much more to it than that. If running Hatton into a countershot and stepping away clean was as easy as you make it sound - and some of the fighters Hatton has been in with are natural counterpunchers, unlike Pacquiao - then I don't think we'd be having a conversation right now on the eve of a Hatton/Pacquiao megafight. Like you said; time will tell. We'll see if your ideas about Hatton generically crowding his way into Manny 'The Matador's' counterpunches all night holds water. It might. It might not. But one thing is clear; sticking Hatton and rolling out unscathed afterwards has NEVER worked against him, and Manny Pacquiao has NEVER been that kind of fighter to begin with.

Absolutely not, but I would hope and dont expect Hatton to crumble by the first Pac straight left down the pike.

If Hatton as I expect can still take a shot, even in defeat, its likely to go a few rounds, which means Pac will get physically tested by Hatton.

I for one want to see how Pac copes with Hatton's physical strenghth and mauling type tactics.......a one shot ending in the first round or two is not going to provide any of us with the answers of can Pac cope with the physicality of the fighters at 140 lbs.

 

This is a quality post. And I agree 99% with it. But, like Philla, I got lost when you said Pac's Achilles Heel was to a bum rusher when I have never seen him get troubled by one. I always thought that a counter-puncher was Pac's kryptonite as they can maintain their distance from Pac and make Pacman pay for his mistakes(especially when he gets off balance). I mean he came into prominence in 2003 when he beat Barrera, and since then only 2 fighters really gave him a run for his money: Morales and Marquez. And both fighters didn't beat/came close to beating Pac by bum rushing him. Counter-punching was the name of the game and that's how they gave Pac hell.

I have never seen Pac get troubled by someone of Hatton's style so much so that it pretty much made it Pac's #1 weakness. No doubt Hatton and his rough-house pressure fighting will cause Pac alot of problems, but if we're talking about Pac's #1 Achilles Heel, then I'm gonna disagree and say counter-punching is still the best way to beat him.
