Many people think Taylor lost both fights and Calzaghe won. He ain't dubbed "Bad Decisions" for nothing.

The Kessler that lost to Joe wouldn't have lost to Froch on Saturday.

Anyway: Hopkins is better than anyone on Froch's CV.

 

What? the version that JC beat, or the version that the man who lost to Froch on saturday night beat twice?

 

Hopkins looked weight drained against Taylor. His performance against Tarver bore that theory out. He looked good against Wright and was fine early on against Joe. It was only when Joe's constant activity wore him out that he struggled. Against Pavlik he was absolutely masterful.

If that was Taylor's finest performance, he looked unconvincing and eked both fights by maybe a point at most in those fights. He displayed all the same issues - quick, positive start then increasingly negative as his energy diminished and he ran out of ideas.

I'd pick the current Hopkins to demolish Taylor. I'd pick the same Hopkins to batter Froch comprehensively and the current Hopkins to still give Calzaghe hell.

 

Come on Max it's not that simple and you know it. Junior Jones beat Barrera twice, but I've no doubt which will look the better name on Erik Morales' CV in a few years' time. Hopkins is clearly a better fighter than Taylor, one look at their resumes tells you that (and if not, Winky or Pavlik could), it's just from a style perspective, Taylor for some reason has the answers for him (albeit controversially).

I'm not making that sort of comparison, I know that its flawed. I just honestly think that Taylor is a better win for Froch than anything on Calzaghes CV.

 

Agreed :good..... and lets put it in comparison going stateside for your first defence against JT takes a certain amount of bottle ! ..... he could have taken easy options but didnt - Froch is still a fighter learning his trade especially at this level and to have the guts to take this fight instead of a nice easy title fight back in sunny Nottingham then he does have balls of steel !! .... well done Froch maybe if JC had been a bit more bolder in his fights then that 0 could well have gone ! - but lets face it south wales everyfight is nice n cosy so why take the risk !!!

 

That's a bit unfair - more than half his world defences were outside Wales.

 

I respect Froch hugely for what he achieved the other night, but the above is simply parrot-fashion repeating of silly stereotypes and completely factually inaccurate. More than half Calzaghe's world title fights were in another country including seven which were in his opponent's home country. He's almost unique in that regard, Froch was fighting outside England for only the second time, Kessler has rarely fought outside Denmark, same with Bute and Canada. As for Taylor it he's got a passport he must have mislaid it!

True, but doesn't change the fact he fought more bouts abroad than any of the current top super middles.
