    A trainer can only tell you to keep your hands up. He can't get in the ring and make you. McCracken was superb in the corner on sat but its up to the fighter to take the trainers advice.

    Have you ever heard a cornerman say: "That's not what we trained to do!" You could spend six months trying to change Froch's style and when he gets in front of a real opponent he will go back to his old habits. You must pick up the habit of good defense when you are young, otherwise you will never get it.

    yes he should hire buddy mcgirt a well respected trainer who will round of the rough edges and guarantee froch never wins another fight until he retires.

    :lol::rofl:lol:

    McCracken did a great job. Kept cool, gave great advice at the right time, spurred Froch on when he needed to without making him freeze...

    ...I was very impressed.

    Im not saying he should i just wondered what people thought, it was only a question, i think he should really tighten his defence for the next coming fights he needs to, big time.

    Kept his cool, l.o.l. I have seen most of Frochs fights he wasnt keeping his cool, he was getting more pissed of than i have ever seen him. Do you think he needs work on his defence?

    Sometimes Froch needs a kick up the backside and his trainer, who knows him well and whom Froch respects and trusts knows how to give it to him.

    Froch's needs a better defence, but his poor defence is not down to his trainer not trying to improve it...it's due to Froch's attitude in the ring and his fighting style. If you tinker with that too much, you might improve his defence, but ruin what makes Froch a force to be reckoned with in the first place.

    He does get the respect he is due and possibly even more than that.:D

    Look! His fans even get to call him the second best SMW in the world without being remotely challenged. If that isn't him getting his dues, then what is?:good

    Here i think i have come across wrong in this thread let me explain, i like Carl Froch and have done from the start, I started this thread to see what people would think about how another trainer maybe could tighten his defence up abit and make him a more rounded fighter, it seems the more Froch steps up in class the more exposed he is to counter attacks when really he should not be taking them shots and i think there are some bigger punchers than taylor out there and how will he take them when he meets these fighters, I think Rob Mcracken was excellent with his advice and calmed him down when he needed to, but I felt Mcracken was getting abit frustrated at the same time because he was getting hit with silly shots. Anyway cheers for your comments you talk alot of sense.:think

    No. His trainer was talking sense into him all night: use your jab, bring your hands up, back him up more, stop sticking your chin up into the air etc. Froch just doesn't ****ing listen. If he didn't think he was Roy Jones he could be a much more classy fighter. Seriously, it doesn't take much to build a high guard and tuck your beard in.

    He was ok in the corner, but he has to take a lot of responsibility for Froch's defensive liabilities. What do they do in the gym? Wing bombs at the heavy bag? In a fight fighters revert to type, this is what Froch has been taught to do. Its a pit becaus he does have great intangibles but nobody has ever told him he doesn't have Roy Jones speed or James Toneys skill.

    I agree though hes likely too old to change much now.

    Thats what i think bringing your hands up isnt going to effect the power of Froch's punches or change his style, I think he needs to work on his defence if he wants to dominate that division, the fights will get harder and i want to see him do well.:good

    Thread starter doesn't have a ****in' clue......McCracken was giving Carl sound advice ('what are you playin' at? keep your hands up and use that ****in' jab!!!)constantly and telling him how deluded he was ('No Carl you didn't win that one, you're about four rounds down')

    McCracken has been with Froch since he turned Pro, and unlike Enzo and Billy Graham, has not been made by the fighter. He's a damn good trainer, and the best up-and-coming trainer in Boxing today IMO.
