This is all working on the flawed assumption that it's simple to finish off Froch.

Not only was this the first time he'd ever been down pro or amateur, he didn't look rattled by the time he got back up either.

Given that Taylor was looking to box and not fight, pressing for a stoppage could've worked out badly for him. He had the right plan, just couldn't execute it perfectly.

I'd nominate Andrew Golota for one as someone that was a pretty poor finisher. He could beat the **** out of you without ever quite putting those punches together to finish you off.

You're right! Even with a knockdown in the 12th, he still wins. Stupid, stupid, stupid...

Not on my scorecard: if he had taken a knee, it would have been a 10-7 round - no way he could still be ahead on a reasonable scorecard...

If I'm not mistaken, Taylor's corner had told Jermain that he needed to win the 12th....given that JT's brain was already scrambled and his ring IQ isn't that great to begin with, taking a knee probably never even crossed his mind.

I think Taylor wins this award hands down...Its like Deja Voo all over again for Taylor...He had Pavlik down but couldnt finish him...Now he has Froch down early, winning on the scorecards heading into the final round and for him to lose the way he did says something....I seriously dont know how you beat a legend in Hopkins twice and get KO by Froch who is leagues below Hopkins:huh....Taylor seriously needs to watch old film of himself or something...I think he's hit rock bottom now!

maybe he didnt want to make the same mistake as he did with pavlik.....using all his energy early and not producing the KO.

    sounds like a confidence thing

Taylor was up by 4rds on two of the judge's scorecards at the time of the stoppage. 106 - 102. He takes a knee, survives, he wins a majority decision 113 - 112.

    Chop Chop Corley.

His career could have changed if he finished the job against cotto.

I knew that, i said a reasonable scorecard. No way Taylor was still four points ahead, even Al Bernstein had it closer.

I think Taylor didn't want to gas again after hurting a fighter while going for the KO like he did against Pavlik. However, he barely threw a punch after the KD.

taylor is such a frustrating fighter. Guy is very good at everything. Solid technically, good power, defense, jab, speed,,,etc...but has some of the worst stamina i've ever seen for a top level fighter. He just goes into a shell and looks to survive when tired. he flashed some desire at the end of round 9 or 10 but he didn't do anything to keep it going.

He seems to have a lot of wasted motion too...which may contribute to his problem. Lacks savvy too

In the first fight, Hopkins did nothing for the first 6 rounds basically
