pound for pound is all myth and conjecture it means nothing. It is fantasy.

Hatton will certainly have an argument for being #1 p4p if he beats Pac impressively.

Ricky is already rated #8 by The Ring and #10 by the Yahoo poll. Shane Mosley rocketed into the top 10 at #5 or so by beating Margo, who was not in the top 5 himself.

If Pac losses, I would guess JMM would get the most first place votes. But he has not beaten Pac in two tries. What would be the sense of ranking him over a guy who would have done just that?

Maybe Hopkins? But he lost to Calzaghe last year (no shame in that) and only beat a middleweight (though impressively) since then.

I'm not saying Ricky will be rated #1 p4p. I'm just saying he has an argument. Especially combined with his win over Kostya (#2 p4p at the time) and his dominance at 140.

Oh, and saying Ricky will be #1 p4p is FAR LESS crazy than saying Hatton will maybe be around 7-9 p4p if he beats Pac. He is already 7-9 p4p in most people's eyes.

In the build up to his fight with Malignaggi he was asked what he would do next should he win.

He said that DLH and Pac 'are fighting for the pound for pound championship' and 'I'd like to fight the winner'.

    Let's be clear.

He isn't doing this to sell the fight. He GENUINELY believes that this will be the case should he win.

Hatton would be the weakest pound for pound one ever.

I hope Hatton really doesn't believe this.
If he does I can only assume PBF clubbed him a little too hard.

I think you are referring to my earlier post. In your eyes, he might already be P4P 7-9, but in most people's eyes? I would guess not. Somewhere just outside the top 10 probably. And I say that as a big Hatton fan and a resident of Manchester, England. If he beats the mega-talented, but naturally much smaller Pac, he'll get the credit he deserves by reclaiming the top 10 spot he earned by beating Tszyu. Nothing more, nothing less.

But The Ring has him at #8. The Yahoo pol has him at #10. Dan Raphael of ESPN has Hatton at #12, but Jermaine Taylor was #11 so he will move up in that one.

Surely a victory over the #1 p4p fighter is worth more than staying in your place or moving up 1-2 spots?

Perhaps, but outside of Pacquaio, nobody is really lighting things up right now. Hopkins, Marquez, Cotto, Darchinyan, Williams and Rafael Marquez have all lost over the last year or so.

Israel Vazquez has not fought in nearly 14 months.

if pacquaio is regarded as p4p no.1....and i can appriciate people saying marquez, and floyd when he returns....but if pac is regarded now as no.1 p4p, why should he lose that title with a loss to hatton, considering it is at 140.

A win gets Hatton 4-6 on the P4P list IMHO.
