2 of my mates are coming to watch the fight, but it would be a bit cheeky of me asking for them to pay a share of the PPV when I already made them pay £40 each to come to the Sunderland card with me, and they aren't into boxing that much. :yep

I think if you are looking for alternatve avenues your best hope is a foreign broadcast, which is quite likely. HBO will indeed be on this like flies round ****.

The former head of the Reykjavik Boxing Association and another former spokesman for the association have been arrested for smuggling narcotics. They had previously signed an agreement to take no part in any boxing related activities for the next five years, one of the men has a history of violent behaviour.

The two men that were arrested with a large amount of cocaine - more than 400 grams - at Keflavik national airport in early december had only last August signed a binding contract to not associate themselves with the sport of boxing for at least five years. While one is a former head of the RBA, the other was a prominent figure in that sport and was the main spokesman for the controversial bout that took place in Laugardalshöll (note from Morrison: There was a very nasty injury at that fight, where someone got serious brain damage after the the got bleeding in his brain cavity). Neither of the two men would comment on this incident when the Newspaper contacted them.

Fabio Quaradeghini, the current head of the Reykjavik Boxing Association, says that he presented the two men with a written contract to get out of the sport this summer and that the association purchased all their equipment as part of the deal. "I no longer wanted to be associated with people that refuse to follow the laws on amateut boxing in Iceland. I will present a copy of this contract to the Icelandic Sporting Federation to make it clear beyond doubt that we are in absolutely no way associated with these men" said Fabio.

He added that the large amounts of boxing related equipment that the two men had with them in their luggage at the time of the arrest was not intended for the Reykjavik Boxing association or anyone associated with it. To his mind, he says it seems obvious that the two men wanted to pretend to be boxers as a cover for their drug smuggling activities and probably intended to sell the equipment on the black market.

According to the sources of the Newspaper one of the cocaine smugglers has a known career as a "man of violence" - but the other one has never been charged with a crime before. They had hidden the drugs in their rectum. Jóhann R. Benediktsson, the Chief of Police for Keflavik national airport, confirmed that the men were arrested with the stated amount of cocaine - which is the largest ever recovered in a single haul at that airport.

The two men confessed under interrogation, since the case was all but closed as soon as the drugs were recovered from their rectums. They claimed that the drugs were for personal consumption. Most people are highly skeptical of this claim, because the amount they had would keep them both constantly high for nearly two years! The estimated street value of the drugs is from 50 to 180 thousand US$.

    :-(

Former leading figures. Anyway, it didn't reflect so well on boxing which is already seen by many as a blood sport. News spreads around quickly.

I don't bother to talk about boxing to anybody as they don't understand it unless there is a ball to boot around or wave your hands at like a spastic. Instead I try to brainwash my girlfriend. I've already taught her all the weight classes, good going in 3 years.

 Quality. My girlfriend is now officially a 'casual fan' after 6 months, so either I'm better at selling the sport, or she is easier to brainwash.
