How ridiculously deep is 168 right now?

Nobody at 168 would beat Calzaghe. Kessler had the best chance and he couldn't handle Calzaghe's footwork, unorthodox style and adaptability. Calzaghe's on another level. I think Chad Dawson at 175 would have a very good shot at beating Calzaghe, but not at 168. More importantly, the division doesn't need Calzaghe anymore. It's arguably the best in boxing.

 

That's part of the beauty of it, though- you put alot of solid to very good fighters together, make the fights happen, and the last man surviving out of it deserves the recognition of being great. The fans also get treated to excellent fights in the process of seeing who rises to the top. :good

Its a hell of a lot deeper than it was when Calzaghe ruled it.

Yeah. It's not that there are especially great fighters at 168, but there are a whole lot of very solid and evenly matched guys, and the beauty of it is that most of the top 10-15 guys have fan-friendly styles and will make for good fights.

 

Definitely, I loving the SMW division right now, could you imagine if Dawson moves down and joins the party?

I doubt if Ward will get past Miranda. He seems weak to me. Good boxer, but like Taylor I think he will wilt under pressure.

Dirrell holds a good win for someone as few fights as he (Oganov) but Green???? Come on.

Only because after 3 years he would be about 40 years old. Late 30's are not a great age for someone who relies on inhuman stamina.

And yet a 2005-07 Calzaghe would probably beat anyone who is at 168 right now, or possibly stepping up/down (Dawson, Pavlik, AA).
