Hes probably the best ref around today what i hope is that he doesnt let Hattom ruin this fight with his John Ruiz tactics and turn this fight in to a huggfest.

    Like George Foreman said:

"The referee is going to be the most important person in the ring tonight besides the fighters"

is he still refing? the guy is pretty old he used to sit on a stool between rounds.

did a tremendous job in the first Gatti-Ward fight most refs wouldve stopped that fight in the ninth round.

Bayless is the best referee around today, no doubt.

I don't think A) Hatton's clinching and pushing is any different to Mosley's in the Margarito fight just because Hatton LOOKS bigger. If one guy is stronger and he pushes the other guy, as was the case in Mosley-Margo which was brilliant and what Cotto should've done apparently, is no different as long as Hatton is using it to stifle his opponents range and/or create punching oppurtunities

    B) Going to be a big factor. Hatton is clearly training to punch, not to wrestle.

I guess people think Hatton that Hatton does more holding than punching. He didn't do it in the Paulie fight and yet people still get on his back for it.

I'm no nuthugger I'm just surprised that with some fighters it's defence and with Hatton it's bullying. Lots of fighters have done it without the flak, but everyone hates Ricky Hatton.

Spot on mate. Very True fair enough about the criticism of ruiz but hatton when in close hits you and roughs you up. Like hatton says its not a tickling contest.

Nope. The last I heard was that he was suffering from some kind of illness but he's retired for good.

Yep without him, Gatti/ward wouldnt have turned out the way it did..

    Man i miss that guy.

once he sees he cant match Pac´s speed he will try to turn that in to a huggfest i have no doubt about that,in past fights everytime anyone gave him problems thats what he did good examples of that are the Mayweather,Urango and Collazzo fights.

against Paulie he didnt do any holding cause he had nothing to fear from Paulie.

btw youre a very good poster and everyone knows youre not a nutthugger.

Richard Steele was a fantastic Ref in his day. In a fantasy World he'd be the Ref for pac-Hatton.

'I was lookin' at his eyes, and I very much don't care for the time' Top bloke, referee in Froch-Taylor gave exactly the same reasons, mind you, there was more time left but we won't get into that now.
