Duddy fight on bbc iplayer

Saw this the other day, Lyell looks like a welterweight.

Don't think Duddy could argue too much, Lyell was more skilled and did the better defensive job. Duddy ate too many.

 

you're right tffp,watched it last night john was so poor i couldn't believe my eyes.

defence was so poor,terrible on the inside, terrible use of a jab,he was slow,lethargic, weak and unskilled.

very fair result and a credit to lyell,he wanted it 100x more.

 

A very random fight for the BBC to pick up, I thought they were 'too good' for boxing these days.

when i first saw him fight a few years back i thought your at your level mate i haven't seen much improvemnet although LHL i agree against vanda he was using jab more but even in last round he took about 7 clean bombs the guy has no understanding of defence and it isn't hard to be honest. i think the loss is blessing in disguise.

 

Duddy's main problem to me is that his opponent can well afford to keep a tight defence knowing very well that they can be patient and easily wait for an opportunity to blast Duddy with a flush punch or two that wins the round, or worse yet cuts him. They know his defence sucks and they play on that.

It also has a big impact on his offence because he makes little impact on his opponents when they are patient. He's neglected his bodywork now he's got this jab going on, so Lyell could easily block most of his work because it was predictable, then hit him with a counter.

Duddy has extremely limited physical talents on all fronts. He is very average so his smarts and skills really have to be on point for him to exceed.
