This thread is in support of Jermain Taylor, I feel really bad for him. He was clearly the better fighter this weekend (skill wise) he just does not have the stamina to go 12 rounds. I must be hard for him to accept, this must be even more crushing than the 2nd Pavlik loss, when he fought his heart out but still lost. Just a thred to say JT keep your head up, you still have fans look at Corry Spinks (big up to Cory on his hard fought decision win) he just got another title over the weekend, dont give up big guy, your fans still got lots of love for you. I am a huge boxing fan and appreciate the sacrifice these guys make for just to entertain us.
I wouldnt even say its a stamina issue, I think its a mental issue much like Judahs, for some reason he just falls asleep in there especially if the fight goes deep. Taylor didnt even use his jab consistantly the hunger is clearly gone.
Yep I feel for him too, such class in and out of the ring, always liked him and hope he continues and does his talent justice.
Good post, buddy. Jermain entertained all of us with a lot of heart and toughness on Saturday night. He deserves a lot more credit than most are willing to give. There's no shame in losing to an undefeated fighter like Carl Froch. He has a great chin and is a very tough fighter, both physically and mentally. Most people forget, this is the same fighter that beat B-hop twice and has only lost to two fighters. Both of which are the number 1 fighters in their weight classes. Jermain Taylor is a credit to the sport of boxing...not only is he a terrific fighter, but he's also a great guy personally. I hope Froch gives him a rematch...he definitely earned it with his gutsy performance on Saturday.:good
If Jermain Taylor wants to stay in the sport and be competitive there are two things he must do: 1. Make an appointment with a cardiologist and get a complete examination to find out why his stamina takes a sudden dive and correct the diagnosis if possible. 2. Get a better trainer (Nazim, Mayweather, Roach etc.) who can cultivate and fine tune JT's flaws. JT had the fight in the bag going into the twelfth round but didn't know to clinch/hold when tired. JT is a former Olympian and an eight year veteran of the pro ranks, he should have known to do this.
People are making too much of the stamina issue...he has 28 victories with only 17 kos...he's gone the distance 11 times. Not an issue. he simply doesn't know how to close out fighters...with his size, speed, and power, he should have a much better knock out ratio.
Good post, but #2 is out of the question. Remember Emanuel Steward. I don't mean to clown the guy but he has to stop saying ok, ok, and yes sir, and actually start doing what his corner tells him.
Thank you guys with positive things to say, for the nay sayers this is not the thread for you. If you had half the ability that Jermain does then yopu could talk but you dont so just, STFU. JT is a good person and if he keeps fighting i will keep supporting him.
Me too!! I think JT can take him in a rematch and he earned it!! Props also to Froch also for pulling it out of thr lions jaws like that. It was a great weekend of boxing guys, a huge thank you from all objective fans to all the fighters that put it on the line this weekend.
You gotta feel for Jermain. He's always been a classy guy, and he was three minutes away from becoming champion- and against a much bigger guy.
Bunch of cry babies why do you feel sorry for a guy who was handed an HBO contract from fight one and never earned the money the hard way. Thats what is wrond with him he was making hundreds of thousands of dollars after his first couple of fights. Its not his fault but he is 5 years ahead of someone that does'nt have hbo handing him bogus decisions.
